BANG! ( A fun flashcard game ) As your children go off to school, you'll often find that there are certain skills that they'll need to master with accuracy and speed. Whether it's letter sounds, sight words or math facts, if they are able to recognize the correct answer quickly, it's much easier to move on to the next challenge. For some children, they seem to pick up the skills almost intuitively on their own. For others, some extra practice will really help them be successful. When I was a teacher, I often played this game "BANG!" Here's what you'll need ~ an empty container, some blank index cards, and some markers. If you'd like, you can decorate your can with scrapbook paper, stickers, etc. Next, make up your flashcards. I wanted to practice sight words with my daughter, so I just cut my index cards in half and wrote words from the Dolch Word list. ( If you're not familiar with the Dolch List, it's a list of 220 of the most commonly used words. You'll also want to make up a few cards with the word "BANG!" 1. 2.

Stenciling with Bleach So here’s tutorial #3 in the bleach series! It’s an easy way to customize a shirt, fabric by removing color instead of adding it. For my first project I used a $1 doily as my stencil. I placed it on a navy t-shirt and sprayed a mist of bleach over top: I moved the stencil to another location and sprayed again. Navy….turning to a dark pink/purple: Finished: You can also use vinyl or freezer paper stencils. I used a sponge to dab the bleach around the stencil and I used a spray bottle to mist around it: Once the shirt began to change colors, I sprayed the back of the shirt with bleach. Stay-at-Home Artist: stencil with freezer paper (harry potter tee)... Yes, I am a nerd. I came up with a brilliant idea for a Harry Potter t-shirt and I couldn't resist. "Expecto Patronum!" However, you can make whatever kind of design you want with a freezer paper stencil. It doesn't have to be Harry Potter related. (Although it would be awesome if it was.) I learned about the joys of freezer paper back in my early college days. Basically, freezer paper is backed with a plastic coating that will stick to soft surfaces when ironed, but it peels off cleanly and easily. To make a sweet t-shirt you will need: paper & pencil a t-shirt an iron a piece of cardboard or poster board fabric paint & brush Start by drawing your design on some regular old paper. My design kept getting bigger, so I taped two sheets together. Next, place your design underneath a sheet of freezer paper and trace it neatly with a sharpie. The marker gives your lines greater width making it easier to cut them out and paint them in later. Important: Set these shapes aside.
Homemade Deodorant! Yep I said it! This might sound really weird and I’m not some kind of hippie. But have you ever read the back label of commercial deodorant? I was pretty reluctant at first about it but I am usually willing to try things like this so I made it (especially since its cheap). One thing though, is this does not contain aluminum which is an antiperspirant. Homemade Deodorant 1/4 cup baking soda1/4 cup corn starch or arrowroot5-6 Tbs coconut oil (I buy the 32 oz container in the cooking oil section. Combine baking soda and corn starch. So not only will this save you money, it will also help you be healthier and more natural! Side note: Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-septic.
