La passionnante histoire des Jeux de Rôles Cela fait un petit moment que je parle des retro-clones, des rééditions de jeux anciens et/ou épuisés, des "Grands Anciens" du JDR. Bientôt, le Jeu de Rôle va fêter ses quarante ans ! Trois générations de joueurs se sont succédées avec leurs jeux fétiches, leurs souvenirs de partie, leur enthousiasme. "On ne juge sainement du présent qu'en l'opposant au passé" - Samuel Johnson Fort heureusement, il existe plusieurs articles sur la génèse du Jeu de Rôle. Le plus important de tous ces textes est "L'histoire du Jeu de Rôle" de Steve Darlington. Le chapitre 1 "Un petit pas pour un wargameur" pose le décor et remonte à la génèse des wargames contemporains dont sont issus la quasi-totalité des artisans du jeu de rôle : Arneson, Gygax, Holmes, Perren, Kay, Blume... Bientôt, ils découvrent "le Seigneur des Anneaux", qui fait alors fureur sur les campus américains. "Un examen sans complaisance de Donjons & Dragons" étudie plus avant ces expérimentations bizarroïdes dans la pratique des wargames.

go read Et si on parlait de jeu de rôle? J’ai envie d’organiser une conférence sur le jeu de rôle pour la prochaine convention Orcidée. Voilà, c’est dit. Et écrit, aussi. J’avoue: c’est mon côté mégalomane qui s’exprime ici. Ça, plus le fait que je suis jaloux comme un pou de Thomas B. qui a eu l’idée avant moi, et pour du GN en plus! Le fait est que je m’intéresse de plus en plus à ce que j’ai tendance à appeler, avec d’autres, la « jeuderôlogie », c’est-à-dire l’étude du jeu de rôle en tant que média à part. En fait, je ne sais trop pourquoi, mais j’ai toujours été fasciné par les conventions de jeu « à l’américaine » et leurs conférences d’auteurs, les panels de présentation et autres débats. Toujours est-il que j’ai commencé à jeter quelques notes sur le genre de choses dont on pourrait discuter. Il faudra également approcher les orgas d’Orcidée, mais le vrai défi, c’est de trouver les sujets et un format qui intéressent le chaland et, surtout, des personnes prêtes à en débattre. Et si on parlait de jeu de rôle?
