Gnarls Barkley est un groupe américain de Neo Soul avec des influences Hip-hop/Funk/Jazz/Electro/Rock Psychédélique et R&B né en 2005 de la collaboration entre le chanteur-rappeur Cee-Lo Green, à la voix sensuelle et assez aigüe, dont le groupe d'origine est Goodie Mob (groupe faisant partie du collectif Dungeon Family regroupant OutKast, Society of Soul, Sleepy Brown, Witchdoctor, Cool Breeze…), et le producteur Danger Mouse, qui a participé en 2005 avec le rappeur MF Doom à l'album The mouse and the mask sous le nom de groupe Dangerdoom. Après d'autres publications tout aussi limitées, c'est amputé d'une partie de son nom qu'est réapparu le groupe cet automne (mais toujours avec les mêmes musiciens Roland Cosio et Charlie Moonheart venus des Epsilons), et bien sûr Mikal Cronin aux manettes. Au début on n'a pas trop aimé ce disque. Heureusement, le talent d'écriture du groupe est tel qu'on finit par abdiquer devant la qualité pure des morceaux de Mikal Cronin. Tracklisting : 1. Gnarls Barkley Just one year later, Danger Mouse was back in the charts with another collaboration project, Gnarls Barkley, with singer Cee-Lo Green (a solo artist and former member of Atlanta's Goodie Mob). The pair had met in Atlanta in the late '90s, and began recording together around the time of a 2003 DM record titled Ghetto Pop Life. A few recordings were passed around and played by many associated with the pair, and eventually one of the leaked tracks, "Crazy," became a hot property for the download market. It became the first single vaulted to the top of the British charts by digital distribution, and the resulting album, St. Elsewhere, peaked at number one on the album charts.
