Tweet Crunch | Latest news from Twitter and Micro Blogging BrainThud - Remember Tame The Web » Blog Archive » Librarian, Library and Catalog Tweets Revealed! I’m always on the lookout for innovative uses of social tools in libraries. This weekend I got an email from John Wohlers, Library Technology Assistant, Waubonsee Community College, detailing his experiences using Twitter at his library. John writes: A funny thing happened when I embedded the feed, other staff members felt left out, and a bunch (including myself) went and signed up for their own twitter accounts. Encouraged by their enthusiasm, I began to think a bit more. With staff often to busy to handle things themselves, and me having a basic understanding of the API, it occurred to me that I could actually make the library itself tweet on its own. Once that was working, I brain stormed some more, and decided to link twitter to our wordpress blog, a simple process. This is ingenious – especially the automated part that sends message to the library’s Twitter account! John continues: During the wait for all the updates to download, I added another twitter feature.
STUDYBLUE Twitter Goes Mainstream Brainscape - Smart Flashcards Not Everyone Reads Your Tweets, and That's Okay! By Jesse Stay of Stay N' Alive (Twitter/FriendFeed) As founder of SocialToo, a startup that has a Twitter auto-follow feature, I've heard my share of comments on why automatically following those that follow you on Twitter or elsewhere is or isn't a bad thing. Some people feel it is less genuine if you use a script to follow those that follow you, while others think that as your network grows it is hard to manually pick and choose those that should or shouldn't be followed. A script makes this easier, and while it has the potential to introduce more spammers into those you follow, services like my own SocialToo.com provide tools to prevent that through manual and intelligent blacklisting of individuals you don't want it to follow. It's About Relationships Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, and other networks similar are all about relationships. Therefore it's important to be able to identify yourself by those you connect with to further establish your identity on the internet.
