Voilà en tout cas qui ravive des souvenirs aux plus anciens d'entre nous, qui ont une informatique où l'usage du clavier était encore obligatoire. Un Ecossais a en effet passé trois jours sur VMWare à mettre jour toutes les versions de Windows, depuis le système d'exploitation MS-DOS 5.0 nécessaire pour l'installation de Windows 1.0, jusqu'au dernier Windows 7 de Microsoft. Sous Windows 1.0 (ou plutôt sous MS-DOS), Andy a d'abord installé deux jeux vidéo qui ont fait le bonheur de toute une génération de joueurs. Les principales difficultés rencontrées ont été le passage à Windows XP, qui ne tenait plus dans les limites des 2 Go imposées par le système de partitionnement FAT16, ce qui l'a obligé à utiliser GParted Linux LiveCD pour convertir la partition en FAT32 et l'augmenter à 25 Go.

Ses réalisations sont actuellement visibles sur sa page Facebook et son compte Tumblr (un site web est en cours de construction), ce nouveau graphiste propose un design au style hétérogène mais singulier. A l'occasion des fêtes de fin d'année, Qrezy a réalisé un QRcode en gif animé. Toutes ses créations QR code ont un très bon rendement au décodage. Que ce soit sur Android ou sur Blackerry Torch, l'ensemble des codes ont été lus sans aucune difficulté (i-nigma, barcode scanner). Bien que le style de Qrezy soit singulier, je trouve que ce dernier code reprend le style caractéristique du designer Benoit Dupart, avec ces pixels "eclatés" et "explosifs". Friends Don’t Let Friends Get Into Finance After having been a tech executive for many years, I needed to take a break, and I wanted to give back to society. Duke University engineering dean Kristina Johnson gave me a great spiel about how the school’s Masters of Engineering Management program churns out great engineers, and how engineers solve the world’s problems. She said that I could make a big impact by teaching engineering students about the real world and encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. I felt so excited that I joined the university without even asking for a proper salary. I was shocked—and upset—when the majority of my students became investment bankers or management consultants after they graduated. So when the investment banks tanked in 2008, I cheered because engineering had become sexy again for engineering grads (read my BusinessWeek column). But thanks to the hundred-billion-dollar taxpayer bailouts, investment banks recovered and went back to their old, greedy ways.

Quand on sort d’une école de danse on veut être danseur, quand on sort d’une école de management on veut être manager! Le problème c’est qu’aucune startup n’a besoin de manager ni dans l’équipe fondatrice ni ailleurs. Les startups ne peuvent pas se permettre d’avoir des profils généralistes qui sont moyens partout ou qui « managent » au lieu de bosser. « je ne veux pas rester éternellement développeur, je veux devenir chef de projet. » Mais dans une startup, cette phrase n’a absolument aucun sens.
