The Heretic

The Heretic
At 9:30 in the morning, an architect and three senior scientists—two from Stanford, the other from Hewlett-Packard—donned eyeshades and earphones, sank into comfy couches, and waited for their government-approved dose of LSD to kick in. From across the suite and with no small amount of anticipation, Dr. James Fadiman spun the knobs of an impeccable sound system and unleashed Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68.” Then he stood by, ready to ease any concerns or discomfort. For this particular experiment, the couched volunteers had each brought along three highly technical problems from their respective fields that they’d been unable to solve for at least several months. It was the summer of ’66. At approximately 10 a.m., a courier delivered an express letter to the receptionist, who in turn quickly relayed it to Fadiman and the other researchers. When the FDA’s edict arrived, Fadiman was 27 years old, IFAS’s youngest researcher. Couldn’t they comprehend what was at stake? The !

Jacobin Jacobin is separate and distinct from Jacobite and Jacobian. The door of the Jacobin Club was in the Rue Saint-Honoré, Paris. The Society of the Friends of the Constitution (French: Société des amis de la Constitution), commonly known as the Jacobin Club (Club des Jacobins, pronounced: [ʒa.kɔ.bɛ̃]) was the most famous and influential political club in the development of the French Revolution,[1] so named because of the Dominican convent where they met, which had recently been located in the Rue St. Jacques (Latin: Jacobus), Paris. The club originated as the Club Benthorn, formed at Versailles from a group of Breton representatives attending the Estates General of 1789.[1] There were thousands of chapters throughout France, with a membership estimated at 420,000.[citation needed] After the fall of Robespierre, the club was closed.[2] Foundation[edit] When the Estates-General of 1789 was convened at Versailles, the club was initially composed exclusively of deputies from Brittany.

Save The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus Help Save The ENDANGERED From EXTINCTION! The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus Rare photo of the elusive tree octopus The Pacific Northwest tree octopus (Octopus paxarbolis) can be found in the temperate rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula on the west coast of North America. An intelligent and inquisitive being (it has the largest brain-to-body ratio for any mollusk), the tree octopus explores its arboreal world by both touch and sight. Reaching out with one of her eight arms, each covered in sensitive suckers, a tree octopus might grab a branch to pull herself along in a form of locomotion called tentaculation; or she might be preparing to strike at an insect or small vertebrate, such as a frog or rodent, or steal an egg from a bird's nest; or she might even be examining some object that caught her fancy, instinctively desiring to manipulate it with her dexterous limbs (really deserving the title "sensory organs" more than mere "limbs",) in order to better know it. Differences between Thoth and Rider Waite Again on my path of research I found this comparison to the 2 decks. It's quite interesting. I have done a cut and paste leaving out some of the author's personal narratives for ease of reading. The writer's name is Yvonne Rathbone Differences in the Major Arcana Fool: The biggest difference, and I believe the most fundamental difference, is in the Fool Card. In the Waite-Smith deck, the Sun of Kether is shown above and behind the Fool. The 8/11 Split: The next big difference is in the numbering of the Major Arcana, specifically the cards called Strength and Justice. When Justice follows the Wheel, it shows a view of Karma that is retributive or restitutive. Differences in the Courts Waite-Smith and Thoth have different court card configurations and how a new deck structures their courts can tell you something about influence. Crowley, in contrast, states very clearly in "The Book Of Thoth" the important role the courts play in his deck. Differences in the Minors

MIGRATING FORMS Donmeh West - A Critical Re-Assessment of Sabbatai Zevi byReb Yakov Leib HaKohain, Founder & Spiritual DirectorDONMEH WEST It is commonly held (usually on the basis of "conventional wisdom" and hearsay rather than historical scholarship) that Sabbatai Zevi's "conversion" to Islam was an act of cowardice that betrayed the Jewish people. However, this raises four questions: Was he, as we are expected to believe, unaware of the reason for which the Sultan of Turkey had summoned him for an audience? In what follows, I propose to show -- on the basis of historical facts rather than commonly held beliefs -- that this "conversion" was not an act of cowardice, but in fact one of the mystical ma'asim zarim (strange actions) that he and Nathan of Gaza believed the Messiah was destined to perform, based on their reading of the Kabbalah. "I am the city of knowledge and 'Ali is its gate'. Being Shi'ite Muslims and Imamis, the Bektashis understood the Imam to be the "Gate of God" and dispenser of His Noor, or Divine Light. Although what Prof.
