pia jane bijkerk The humid air and persistent drizzle last Saturday (actually the Saturday before last… it’s taken me quite some time to compose this post) did not deter us from having an intimate garden party to celebrate Laly’s second birthday. I have not hosted a party since we lived on the houseboat in Amsterdam, so I was feeling a bit daunted about the idea and wondered if I could do it without getting completely overwhelmed and stressed (the main reason why I don’t host parties – dinner ones or otherwise). I worked hard for the two weeks leading up to the event to be really present with my time and to let things go if they weren’t working out the way I intended, or if things happened that stopped me from being able to create exactly what I had envisioned. My intention was to try my best to have fun with each part of the process – painting the bunting, gathering the flora, cooking, setting up… I still got stressed, and we still had a family meltdown the day of the party. BUT.
design blog - DesignAddict posted on January 24 by DesignAddict. The Museum of Modern Art presents the exhibition 'Frank Lloyd Wright and the City: Density vs. Dispersal'. Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959)—perhaps the most influential American architect of the 20th century—was deeply ambivalent about cities. MAGAZINE The literal definition of museum is, so to speak, frank, precise, with no frills. It seems to have little or nothing to do with the concept of art but of the art the museum is the container, the stronghold. It’s the bulwark of visionary dreams, ancient glories, lost civilizations… supreme manifestation of the ego-man. The Fucking Young!’s new issue is going to be a tribute to this timeless place.
NOT CONTENT The Second Holly Grove, between Avalon and Money, Mississippi, 2013 An extract from my notes on the 5th of February - 'Leaving Granada we came across an old store front near Holcomb, MS, and stopped to photograph it - the first of many finds of the day. Next we passed through Avalon, hometown of Mississippi John Hurt, which consisted of little more than a few houses, a few empty shacks, a gin warehouse (abandoned), and plenty of fields. We then drove to Greenwood, the 'Cotton Capital' and home to Furry Lewis, and got gas before turning back towards Avalon, in search of Money, MS - site of the story of Emmett Till.

Measure of an Innovator: The Innovator ... Every once in a while, great products come along that change our lives. Products that move us, change our behavior, even our way of thinking. Products that are beautiful, appealing, intuitive, that connect with us emotionally. Products that are well engineered, well designed and that create tremendous economic value for companies. Brokin nglish. Saturday - March 21st, 2014 | Location: Seattle Given the timing of us being in Juneau, someone made mention of visiting the Mendenhall Glacier, and that the large lake was frozen and we’d have about an hour journey with crossing the lake, as well as the hike up the glacier to the Ice Cave entrance. There were lots of pitfalls and it was all about staying on the path, but given the weather warming up, we didn’t expect the lake to remain frozen all the way through (the First mini glacier shot) with the heavy foot traffic, but it did and was an amazing trip in.

Priestmangoode - Product, Transport and Environment Design Moving Platforms is a concept for the future of rail travel. We have been designing high speed trains around the world for a few years now. Our experience of various systems has led us to conclude that it is hugely inefficient to run a new 21st century high tech, high speed train service on a 19th century infrastructure that was invented for steam trains.
