If you suggest celebrating Earth Day to your kids, they are sure to want to know what it's all about and the reasons behind it. Depending on where in the world you live, Earth Day will fall either in the Spring or the Autumn. In the Northern Hemisphere – in other words the half of the world that is north of the equator – it is celebrated during the Spring, whilst in Southern Hemisphere, it is observed in the Autumn. Howie Owl – hoot hoot! « 3EyedBear The first kit of the new year is this deceivingly simple looking little owl to expand the bird-population in 3EyedBear’s universe. We all know owls are one of the wisest creatures and this one certainly will be one day too. Thing is: she’s still very young and inexperienced, but she compensates that with a passion for reading thick books while you sleep. It don’t hurt to have her posted in your bedroom since owls hunt for little scary creatures by inborn instinct. She will watch over you. Discuss nutrition and have the kids each plan a menu for a day or week or month (depending on their ages). Build medical models. See if your local library has a summer reading program, or a kid's book club. Watch "Mr Smith goes to Washington" with Jimmy Stewart in it. Find some educational place mats in the housewares area at Walmart. Get a free state map from your license bureau. Have kids gather leaves. Find the oldest cemetery around you and visit it. Teach kids to sew.
