knotted jersey headband tutorial hey there LOVE STITCHED PEEPS!! it’s LESLIE from LITTLE MOOKIE back again with another fun tutorial, and while i’m a sewing contributor here, sometimes the best sewing tutes are the ones that involve ZERO SEWING! am i right? (tell me i’m right, mkay?) i’ve always wanted to learn how to tie celtic-ish style knots and this one was super cute so i started searching around for a tutorial and found this one. she used long crochet chains but i don’t crochet. so i figured, why not UPCYCLE something? what you’ll need:old tshirts – any color, combo (could also use fabric, rope, yarn, etc.)cutting mat & rotary cutter (plain ‘ol scissors would work just fine too)glue gun & gluemusic (i always work better when i can sing while i work) :) start by cutting your shirt just under the arms(you could also start at the bottom – cutting off the band and starting there) cut two 1″ strips(i chose to use different colors so you can follow along better, but one color is cute too) ready to go! FINITO!!
Fabric Labels Tutorial Many people have asked me how I make my labels so I have decided to make this little tutorial including pictures and any little tips that I have learned along the way. You will find that making your own labels is quite simple and much cheaper than purchasing custom labels. Pour yourself a cup of tea and enjoy. Materials needed:computer, graphics program (I used photoshop) & inkjet printerregular printer paperiron-on transfer paperutility knife, cutting mat & metal rulerribbon (I used 1/2 inch natural cotton twill tape)iron & ironing boardscissors Step 1: Design your image using your program of choice working with a resolution of 300ppi for a clear image. Step 2: Print your labels. Step 3: Cut out the images preferably into long strips using your utility knife, cutting mat and ruler. Step 4: Iron the transfer onto the ribbon. Step 5: Peel off the backing paper. Step 6: Use them! You could also make laundering instruction labels, and quilt labels using this same method!

Rooibos on friday (3 – the end) « My Daruma Vendredi, 22h, après une bien longue journée : c’était moins une pour le billet du vendredi…! La robe est terminée et j’en suis très contente. Monsieur Daruma me trouve un petit air secrétaire sage des années 60 qui n’est pas pour lui déplaire. Moi je dirais plutôt année 50 mais passons, voulez-vous, sur les subtilités stylistique du vintage. Côté couture, pas de problème particulier pour ce modèle Rooibos que j’ai trouvé plutôt plus facile que la robe Macaron du printemps dernier. Seule petite ombre au tableau : si le bustier était parfaitement ajusté, j’ai du retirer plusieurs centimètres de part et d’autre de la jupe qui était résolument trop ample à la taille et aux hanches. Je suis très très fière de mes poches (les toutes premières en 4 ans de couture!) Merci à Sarai Mitnick pour ce très très joli patron. Friday, 10 PM. DIY: Pyramid Wrist Bag Holiday parties all around and you really don't want to be carrying a large handbag that makes it difficult to dance or has you worrying about keeping an eye on it when you leave it aside. That is why I love wristlets! Spacious enough to carry your necessities and small enough to keep it around your wrist at all times. My friend Kostas over at Milloo handbags was kind enough to put together this Pyramid Wrist Bag tutorial so we can all make out own little party wristlets :) This wristlet measures approx 18cm/7'' so adjust your leather size accordingly if you want a smaller or larger version. You will need: - a sewing machine (it doesn't have to be a professional one as in the pictures) - metallic leather fabric (you can use any leather you prefer but do opt for an animal friendly version if possible) - a zipper measuring approx. 13cm/5" long - metallic clasp and rings/links for the strap - scissors - tailor's chalk or a fabric pen - pen and paper Now, lets sew it up. Sew the zipper on the opening.

Step 1 – choose your treated fabric for your labels. In order for your printer ink to stain the fibers and last, you must use 100% natural fibers. If you don’t want to treat the fabric yourself, you can buy pretreated fabric sheets for your printer at craft stores or google them. And here is why picking your own fabric is important: you want your clothing labels to be comfortable when the garment is worn, and you don’t want them to unravel. How to Make a Yarn Wig, 4 ways Ever since posting about the girls’ costumes last year, I’ve been excited to share this with you! It’s the classic old yarn wig. And there are so many ways to make it, mix it, and use it! In fact, I’m amazed at how you can make an entire costume with JUST a wig. If you’ve made a yarn wig before, you know these are easy. For all of these wigs you just need a couple things….. SUPPLIES: 1-2 skeins of yarn 1 fitted cap (knitted beanie, or swimmer’s cap, or DIY cap–info below) Yarn: The amount of yarn needed just depends on how full your wig becomes. Cap: You need something that will fit tight on the head. And if you can’t find a beanie…. You can also use a swimmer’s cap, or….you can easily make your own! Grab an old pair of kids tights (thicker tights work better). Okay. YARN WIG with SIDE PONYTAILS or BRAIDS or BUNS • First draw where the hair will “part” on the cap–this is where you will sew the yarn in place. And this is what you need to think about as you make any kind of wig.
