Yajna, the Vedic Sacrifice By Jayaram V Yajna means a sacrifice or sacrificial rite. It is derived from the root word, yaj, meaning to sacrifice, to worship, honor, revere, or offer an oblation to the gods. The tradition of making offerings to God and worshipping them in a sacrifice of food and other materials is not unique to Hinduism. The Zoroastrians also follow a similar practice which they call yasna. Yajnas are not simple methods of worship, which anyone can perform. In ritual sacrifices the use of fire is a must. As per the Vedic beliefs offerings made in a sacrifice are first accepted by fire god, Agni and he distributes the offerings to other gods according to their fixed share. As stated earlier, some yajnas are performed daily, while some are performed occasionally. A sacrificial ceremony is usually performed a senior priest called Brahman priest. Journalists are Advising Protesters RUSH: The numbers of people showing up are not that big. I got a piece by Walter Shapiro in the New Republic. And he says one of the major points about this is that it isn't that big. The number of people involved in this thing are not that many. Now, wouldn't you know it. And also, do you know -- this probably will not surprise you, Andrew Breitbart has dug this one up. The names on the list are a veritable who's who in the media. RUSH: Here's that Walter Shapiro piece from the New Republic, "The Truth About Occupy Wall Street: It’s Much Smaller Than It Seems -- With tensions at a fever pitch and TV viewers from Laos to Lapland glued to their sets," and therein lies the reason our guys are caving on this. "From viewing fragmentary photos and glancing at the headlines, the uninitiated might imagine that this spot was a pristine green sward before the protests. "Nothing I saw in New York this week justifies the current level of the-whole-world-is-watching media coverage. Mr. Mr.

Fate, Free Will, and the Laws of Karma Fate, Free Will, and the Laws of Karma In most people's minds, "free will" has two relatively distinct properties. The first is the idea that what one does is in some sense "free", that is "not determined by something else". The second is the idea that one can onself control what one does. Greek philosophers The question of free will does not seem to have presented itself very clearly to the early Greek philosophers. Buddhism Buddhism has always presented an empirical psychology that both reveals and rests upon a philosophy of process. 1. that it is unsatisfactory; 2. that craving and misunderstanding cause this suffering; 3. that it can be ended; and 4. that a path of emotional and cognitive realignment leads to such liberation. These truths are less a statement of fact than a call to act. (Note: The Bible teaches each individual is responsible for his own life (Ezekiel 18:4,20; Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). Christianity Hinduism Therefore, the future is based on the past.

William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire posted: October 22, 2008 William Ayers is a communist. But don't take my word for it. He said so himself: And not some nicey-nice peace-and-love kind of communist. The quotes above were scanned directly from a now long-forgotten book entitled Prairie Fire: The Politics of Revolutionary Anti-Imperialism, which was written and published in 1974 by William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and other members of the Weather Underground. After a long search, I was lucky enough to finally get my hands on a copy of the original edition of Prairie Fire, which is now extremely rare and hard to find. This essay features many high-resolution scans of quotes and entire pages taken directly from Prairie Fire, which journalists, bloggers and other media members are free to copy and re-post. So far in 2008, there has been almost no mention of this manifesto and its insurrectionary goals. How Is This Relevant to the 2008 Presidential Campaign? The Evidence

ACLU Leaders Are Supporting Censorship of Israeli Speakers :: Hudson New York The international campaign to prevent speakers from delivering pro-Israel talks at universities has been assisted by leaders of the American Civil Liberties Union—an organization that is supposed to protect freedom of speech for all. The method used to silence these speakers and preclude their audiences from hearing their message is exemplified by a now infamous event at the University of California at Irvine. Michael Oren—a distinguished scholar and writer, a moderate supporter of the two-state solution, and now Israel's Ambassador to the United States—was invited to speak. The Muslim Student Union set out to prevent him from delivering his talk Here is the way Erwin Chemerinksy, Dean of the law school, described what the students did: "The Muslim Student Union orchestrated a concerted effort to disrupt the speech. One student after another stood and shouted so that the ambassador could not be heard. "The students' behavior was wrong and deserves punishment. The opposite is true.
