{DIY} Paper Lantern & PomPom Grouping Since the Sisters’ room is so jam-packed with things that I made myself, I thought I’d share with you how I did them over the next week or so (or how ever long it takes to fit it all in!!)! That’s what you’ve really been wanting anyway, right? Some of these projects I’ve shared over that last year in whole or in part, but since so many of you are new—(WELCOME!!! First up, the Paper Lantern & PomPom grouping! It’s no secret I love the room Ashley Ann created from her daughter, and this is another project that was borrowed from that room. When I made my grouping, all the supplies that Ashley had used were no longer available, with the exception of the pom-pom kit which I found at Michael’s. For the pictures shown here, I was using the paper supplied in the kit. However, these were SO EASY a kit was definitely not required!! For each pom-pom, you’ll need: (I’m using paper from the kit which is pre-scored & cut, but this isn’t necessary to have done already) And that’s it!!!! Enjoy!
Dorm Room Spa: 3 Easy DIY Beauty Recipes to Try Photo Credit It’s that taxing in-between time of the semester again – spring break is over, papers and projects are coming due, and finals are looming ahead. It’s clear that college students are stressed right now, and with that stress comes the need for relaxation. And what better way to unwind than by pampering yourself and indulging in some me-time? Of course, as college students, we can’t all afford to shell out for a trip to a high-end spa. So how do you get all the benefits of a spa treatment without the hefty cost? 1. Photo Credit Olive oil isn’t just for cooking — it’s great for your hair, too! To give your hair a conditioning treatment, massage about 2 tablespoons of olive oil into your hair and scalp. Next, take a warm, damp towel and wrap it around your head and treated hair (“turban” it). Finally, rinse out the olive oil with shampoo. 2. The secret? To create the mask, mix 2 tablespoons of honey with a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of nutmeg. 3. Photo Credit
This Guy's Portal Gun Actually Works, Turns His House Into a Test Chamber Not necessarily, once he flew into the air all of his earlier momentum was slowed, then halted, by gravity, then it was simply a matter of falling from that height... he would have gone very high up, but on his way down I don't think he would reach terminal velocity again (napkin math tells me it would be less, but I don't know how much less). Even if it were substantially less, it *would* have killed him anyway, *if* all of that force was directed toward the Earth when he landed, but as soon as he went through the last portal, all of that gravity was transferred into horizontal force, and (like a bullet) he would have fallen to Earth no faster than if you dropped a baseball. That said, in the video it looks like he slammed into that fence, so... The solution would've been to put two portals on the ground and wait for gravity to slow his velocity as he fell up and down through both. Don't forget the part where he looks up to see himself... That section had a few problems...
Gift Ideas for Poor Creative Souls (10) Posted by: Cathy on May 22, 2012 Tagged in: Untagged I just loved this Paint swatch chandelier! What a wonderful idea and those paint swatches you can pick up for free. You can use an old lampshade and use the frame or pick up an old one from the thrift store. You can also purchase them new in art and crafts shops but recycling makes this project more fun. These are the materials you'll need: - paint swatches in the same tones or you can use multi-colored if you prefer - wire frame from old lampshade (this will hang upside down) - large circular hole puncher - cellotape - cotton thread - scissors Start punching your circles from your paint swatches. Lay out your paint medallions, coloured side down, in the desired order. Turn your lamp shade upside down and fasten it somewhere where it can hang freely. The full tutorial can be seen here. DIY Braided Bead Bracelet - Honestly WTF It’s been awhile since our last bracelet DIY. I don’t know about you, but our wrists have been begging for another colorful addition for months now. So after playing with some materials that were already on hand, we’ve created a tutorial for a braided bead bracelet, which is a not so distant cousin of the hex nut and wrap bracelet. Because honestly, you can never have too many . . . You’ll need: Cut the waxed linen cord into a 26″ and 19″ piece. Tie a knot about half an inch down from the loops. Start braiding the strands. Push the bead against the base of the braid, and cross the left strand over the middle. Keep a finger at the base of the braid, holding the beads in their place and keeping the braid tight. Finish the bracelet with another inch of braided cord, measuring it against the wrist. Thread on a two hole button – two strands through one hole and one strand through another. Trim the end. Your bracelet is finished! (all images by HonestlyWTF)
Make an Airsoft Machine Gun from a Soda Bottle Several months ago I posted a project showing how to make a 'cloud' BB machine gun with a built in air supply out of PVC. That project, while very entertaining, cost $50 in parts and took several hours to complete. More recently I have resumed experimenting with BB machine gun designs with the goal of making them as inexpensive and easy to build as possible. This airsoft gun is a bullpup design, meaning that the pellets enter the barrel from behind the trigger. Parts Required: Soda Bottle 7mm x 6" Automotive Brake Line 1/4" Quick Release Air Compressor Fitting Air Compressor Blow GunTools: Drill & Drill Bits Hot Glue Gun Air Compressor The only downside to this particular machine gun is that it must be plugged directly into an air compressor line to fire. Please remember as always to share this article with others on Facebook and Twitter, and if you really want to support my projects, submit this article to other sharing sites sites such as Reddit and Digg. Until next time, -NH

DIY: Fringe T-shirt : Cheap Chic Obsession Make this Fringe top similar to the nastygal one! I swear it looks complicated and like a lot of steps but it is super easy once you start just a lot of lines and cutting! What you will need: Mens- t-shirt I used one of those slim fitting t-shirts in a Small with long sleeves (only because I wanted my sleeves to be a bit longer) but you can use something larger depending on how loose or long you want it.scissorsrulerpencil Use a flat surface. This is the shirt I used that I bought for 3£ Put the t-shirt on and choose where you want the fringe to start. Once you have done that connect the two dots and make a straight line. Since the bottom already has the stitching line going across (that you will cut off) use this as a line and make 1cm marks accross. Then connect the top marks with the bottom marks. Now you are ready to cut. Once you have finished the fringe cut off the collar. And ta da! What do you think?

One of my favorite things to decorate with is fresh flowers. I think it brightens up a room so much! A couple weeks ago at Michael’s I found some tiny little glass vases for .99. Until now! It seemed perfect for my little vase display and I love it! Isn’t it bright and cheery? And not only were there 2 big bunches – but they were still in the paper, because Mr. So let’s get started. You’ll need frames, vases (one or two per frame), and twine. If you have frames that you are happy with – you can skip this step. I have a stash of ucky old oak frames – some of them were happy to donate themselves for a makeover. :) Start by painting your frames in the colors you’d like. Make sure your frames are covered well – and that you paint the inside section where the glass goes as well. Once your frames are dry, brush on a contrasting color - I used dark gray. Make a knot in the twine right at the neck. What do you think??
Here is a DIY guide on how to tie a draped skirt. The Top 10 Relationship Words That Aren't Translatable Into English | Marriage 3.0 Here are my top ten words, compiled from online collections, to describe love, desire and relationships that have no real English translation, but that capture subtle realities that even we English speakers have felt once or twice. As I came across these words I’d have the occasional epiphany: “Oh yeah! That’s what I was feeling...” Mamihlapinatapei (Yagan, an indigenous language of Tierra del Fuego): The wordless yet meaningful look shared by two people who desire to initiate something, but are both reluctant to start. Oh yes, this is an exquisite word, compressing a thrilling and scary relationship moment. Yuanfen (Chinese): A relationship by fate or destiny. From what I glean, in common usage yuanfen means the "binding force" that links two people together in any relationship. But interestingly, “fate” isn’t the same thing as “destiny.” Cafuné (Brazilian Portuguese): The act of tenderly running your fingers through someone's hair. Ya’aburnee (Arabic): “You bury me.”
Flamingo Toes » Anthro-Inspired Mirror You all know we love a good Anthropologie knockoff around here – so a couple of days ago when I was browsing online I came across this mirror. Oh I definitely need that. Hold the presses – did that say $498??? Huh. So after scouring the thrift shops, cutting myself on mirror glass, and overcoming an unreasonable fear of Mod Podge, here is my version! (Bear with me here – taking a picture of a mirror is a bit tricky. Ready for the tutorial? You’ll need: A MirrorEasy Off Oven CleanerFabric (enough to cover the frame and the back of the mirror)Mod PodgeA Staple Gun or other framing tool I went searching for a method to removing silvering and came across a great tutorial at Mitzi’s Collectibles. I started with a frame that I found at the thrift store. Obviously not clean. We actually had to ask on this one – because it just said 1951. $19.51 seemed way to high – and it was. Start by taking your mirror out of the frame. Lay your mirror down on a protected surface. Now walk away. Keep scrubbing.
