DIY Proenza Schouler Scroll Necklace Were you blown away by Proenza Schouler‘s entire Fall 2011 Collection as much as we were? The juxtaposition of digitalized and geometric Native American inspired prints with decorative, Victorian-like statement necklaces was all kinds of genius. And of course, the jewelry had the wheels in our DIY minds spinning ever since. You’ll need: The hardest part of this project is finding decorative mouldings that are small enough to use. Lay the mouldings on a wooden block and carefully drill holes through each marking. In a well ventilated area, spray an even coat of flat black paint over the mouldings and charms. Then, we crushed hard on this Maison Michel metal spiked hair comb spotted on Elena Perminova in Paris. Perhaps we can blame our attraction on our stegosaurus obsession (yes, this is true). Or it could simply be because these spiked hair accessories are so badass and bananas (also true). You’ll need: Start by adding a small amount of liquid super glue to one end of the comb. Glue another spike to the other end of the comb. Continue glueing each spike, alternating from one side to another. Stick the spiked comb in a bed of teased and tousled hair! Hyperbole and a Half DIY Door Knocker Belt After discovering lion drawer pulls at the hardware store a few weeks ago, we were immediately reminded of this vintage Moschino jacket spotted on Jane of Sea of Shoes. They were obviously too amazing to pass up and we knew we had to incorporate the mini door knockers into a DIY. Luckily, we were able to track down the same lion head drawer pulls online so now you can join in on the fun! You’ll need: Start by placing the drawer pulls along the backside of the belt and place them to your liking. Push the screws through the holes and twist on the drawer pulls, tightening each one with a screwdriver. Your Moschino-inspired belt is finito! Roarrrrr! We were impressed to discover that not only did she DIY them, she made them using boxer shorts! We immediately raced to Target for white boxer shorts and the fabric store for a variety of pretty white lace trims. You’ll need:men’s or boy’s white boxer shorts2 yards of lace trima pair of scissorspinsa sewing machine or needle and thread Pin the lace trim along the inside hem of the shorts, starting at the seam of the inner leg. SMITH - New York Times #1 Best Seller DIY Flower Halo You’ll start by cutting 2 circles from the piece of felt at approximately 2″ in diameter. Form the wires of your halo by molding and bending each piece into a half circle. Lay the two half circles opposite of each other to create a single circle, laying it over the top of your head to check the fit. Wrap floral tape over 2 sections of overlapping wire at 11 o’clock and 3 o’clock. Trim any overlapping pieces with the wire cutters. Unofficial World of Warcraft Papercrafts Finally finished... this is one of the TBC most wanted weapon set for rogues and dps warriors. Now it can be yours without running Black Temple for 1,000,000,000 times! I'm still building it, and everything seems OK till now. It's recommended to reinforce it with a stick because the handle is thin compared to the blades. The "buckler" has no connection point, so glue it to the handle following the 3D window in Pepakura. I think it can help someway the guy who built Illidan to improve his model... if he prints it in a bigger paper size. :) Difficulty: MediumDownload: HERE
DIY Lace Earrings Dolce & Gabbana‘s Spring ’11 collection undoubtedly furthered our already fanatical obsession with lace. Honestly, how dreamy is the collection?! We thought we’d make good use of some vintage lace trim we had laying around and turn them into earrings similar to the ones we saw on the runway. And thanks to some tips from a DIY previously featured on Poppytalk, making lace earrings proved be a cinch! Mix equal parts glue to water in a bowl. Submerge the cut shapes into the glue mixture. DIY No Knit Scarf We love Rike Feurstein. Her hats are sick and her chunky knits are lusciously bold and amazing. And when we saw her Dylan scarf, we thought it was genius. A scarf that didn’t require knitting? You’ll start by transforming a skein of yarn into a hank of yarn, which is yarn that is loosely wound into a large ring shape and then twisted. Cut 3 pieces of leather at approximately 1.75″ wide and 4″ long. Voila! (top image from here, rest of images by Honestly…WTF) DIY Transparent Clutch Phil Oh spotted this elegant Charlotte Olympia Pandora clutch during Paris Fashion Week and we spotted a DIY. Prada, Chanel & Fendi seem to be seeing clearly too because let’s face it, nothing says “I ain’t got shit to hide” like a transparent clutch. You’ll start by drilling a hole at the top of the plastic box. Use a drill bit that is one size larger than the diameter of the bolt on the knob, otherwise the plastic might crack.
