Prismatic Brings You News From Twitter Without the Overwhelming Feed There's a lot of fun in the hullabaloo of Twitter, but if you just want to find interesting stuff, a new site called Prismatic will spare you the work of sifting through hundreds of tweets. Like many people, I get a good proportion of the news I read every day from people I know online, primarily in the form of links I find on Twitter, and also from Facebook to some (lesser, for me) extent. On Twitter I read hundreds of tweets and mark a few as favorites, articles that I will pull up and read in full once I'm in the office. I find great stuff, but it's not particularly efficient. Even though I'm following a carefully tailored list of very interesting people and publications, I still only mark a few stories out of the hundreds I glance over. As with all search activities, the hope is to somehow increase the signal-to-noise ratio. Prismatic is the work of five people with backgrounds in Artificial Intelligence, design, and data based in San Francisco.

Stat Silk: This is a set of tools that you can download to create interactive maps and charts. Creately: Creatly is an online mindmapping program that is pretty powerful. Google Public Data Explorer: It probably goes without saying but Google has access to lots of data. Aviary Phoenix-Once you gather your images, charts and graphics, you are going to need a way to put them together. On 27th September 1999 I posted to my first blog – it was on blogging and new media. This rightly questions when and where blogging should be an endeavour to use with students. Exploring students’ understanding of how blogs and blogging can support distance learning in Higher Education (2007) Kerawalla, Minocha, Conole, Kirkup, Schencks and Sclater. Based on this research blogging is very clearly NOT of interest to the majority of students, NOR is it likely to be of value to them for collaborative learning. (Research on using blogging with students of Public Relations gives a far more favourable response … I would suspect that this would apply to courses on journalism and creative writing i.e. use the medium that is appropriate for those on specific courses). They may vary from random thoughts to pictures from interesting adventures you have been on. Whatever it is that is mesmerizing your followers, I am sure you have no idea what to do with your tweets once they are out of the public’s eye.
