Branching Out Mani: DIY Cherry Blossom Nail Art Tutorial... Fashion As you may have guessed, I was inspired by Monday’s post: Decorating with Branches, and decided to create a little branch nail art manicure, which could also be construed as Cherry Blossoms due to the pink flowers I added. I love that this manicure is in line with all the pale nails we saw on the Spring runways and with a hint of “Far East” inspiration too boot. This, of course, has become one of my favorites {but I’m pretty sure I always say that}. Here’s What I Used… * Base: Sephora “White Hot”* Branches: OPI “You Don’t Know Jacques” | RGB “Steel” | Sally Hansen “Cafe au lait” | Art Deco “Silver” {but any silver will do, this brand just happens to have very thin and long brushes}* Fine Nail Art Brush… I have this set, but this brush set is only $2.74* A bright color for your flowers. Here’s How I Did It… * Begin with two coats of white as your base and let dry. You may choose to stop here or after any color, I wanted the depth and hues to vary. * Finish with your top coat. Voila… Voila!
Minty Spots | Little Nails Essie Mint Candy Apple, Ulta3 Gold Rush Fever, Bundle Monster BM-211 Again with the new polishes! This whole living in the city, having access to lots of nail polish is not good for my bank account! Cotton Candy Gradient I'm so so proud of myself today! This is the smoothest gradient I've ever done and possibly my favourite colour combo too. I'm going to chock it up to the perfect polishes which are both smooth but kind of watery two coaters - perfect for gradienting! For the striped finger I applied a few strips of striping tape straight from cuticle to tip using some nail art tweezers, then painted over them with W7 Black and quickly removed the strips. The glitter on my accent finger is La Femme Purple Glitter.

Ashley is PolishAddicted: Max Factor Fantasy Fire Part 2! I hope you aren't sick of seeing Max Factor Fantasy Fire across the interwebs! LOL This is my second post on FF. If you remember my first post then you will remember I promised pics over black. It is amazing how different this polish looks over black than it did over Barry M Indigo! FF is exclusively sold in the UK, I owe mine to my friend Denise, thanks so much!!! This is 2 coats of FF over 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Isn't it amazing how different this looks over black?
Snippet: Purple Glitter Gradient Hit the jump for 4 more pictures... I used Barry M Plum as my base colour and coated my cuticles and all around my nail in Liquid Palisade* before using a sponge to dab on Sally Hansen Be-Jewelled from my cuticles up. I quickly pulled of the Liquid Pallisade before the glitter dried and applied a top coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails. Faux Diamond Tipped Nails* Glitter French Manicure * Fashion I’ve been dying to try out this new deep teal polish by Sephora by OPI for a few weeks now and am so excited to finally do so. I really love the color! It appears very dark, almost black even, but has a fantastic blue hue which happens to work really well with silver glitter. And while I think my chunky glitter stripe is a bit more subtle and chic, this glitter French Manicure makes me feel like I have diamond tips… and very Elizabeth Taylor-ish. Here’s what I used: * 2 coats of My Personal Serpent Sephora by OPI and I love that this is an effective, safe, environmentally conscious brand. * Carefully apply a layer of chunky silver glitter to your tips like a French Manicure. * One coat of your favorite top coat {mine is Chanel extreme brilliance} fills in the thick edge and smooths out your nail. …but admittedly, difficult to photograph! Why OPI’s New Top Coat ‘Black Spotted’ Is the Latest Impossible-To-Get Nail Polish Craze Special effects top coats–like holographic, crackle, and sparkle–are now a nail polish aisle staple, with everyone from Essie to Deborah Lippmann releasing versions. But there’s one that has had the nail polish blogs gushing for the past month and it’s definitely worth a closer look. (A huge thanks to my nail polish-addicted friend Lauren for bringing it to my attention via my Facebook page: “OMG! OPI’s “Black Spotted” is a black top coat that works sort of like Shatter, but with much cooler results. Pretty cool, right? EBay, obviously. The OPI rep assured us that lots of fun things are forthcoming for US customers, but do you sort of want to get your non-spotted hands on this top coat? How to: Rescue a nail! Oh shoot. Cracked a nail? Don't give up on it immediately! After a lot of stamping with the feet and cussing around, I usually just rip off the cracked tip. And yes, this usually makes me very sad. But no more sadness for me, because a while ago I discovered these neat little things called silk wraps. You can also use silk wraps if you just happen to have weak nails or if you have cracked an artificial nail. I like to use the Essence SOS Nail Repair Pads, one package contains 10 self adhesive pads. So far I haven't used these on myself, but I think I've applied them about seven times on my mom's nails. How to apply a silk wrap See? This was it for today, thanks so much for reading and till next time!
Galaxy Nails Tutorial I was really excited to do this galaxy nails tutorial because they are so unique and personal to the artist doing them. There's no right or wrong! So bearing that in mind, this is more just "guidelines" than a tutorial because there is a million and one way to this style of nails! In this tutorial I used Sinful Colors in Ciao Bella (which I seem to use for every look on this site, I love it!) with a coat of Sinful Colors Frenzy over it for the base. Canadian Nail Fanatic: Stamping Polish Comparisons As happy as I am with the stamping results using Konad black special polish, I'm not generally happy with the cleanup, which is rarely 100% plus it has a tendency to drag probably more than any of the other Konad polishes. I've been wondering if there are other black polishes that work well for stamping. I took note of various comments on my blog (thanks Bunny Nails for mentioning KleanColor because I never would have thought about this one!) as well as seen what some others were using for stamping polishes; either swapped or bought them and decided to see if there was an alternative to Konad. For this comparison, I used (left to right below) black Konad special polish, KleanColor Black, Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris, FingerPaints Black Expressionism and Essence Stamping polish. For this stamping experiment, I used FingerPaints Blue Raspberry Taffy (blue) and Misa Without Airs Orange (orange) as the base. I didn't see any visible signs of SV drag on any nails. Results? Thanks for looking!
Natural looking beach curls in under 20 minutes! I don’t know about you ladies, but I’m itching for the summer. It doesn’t help that department stores are already putting out their summer wear and swimsuits. Have you ever wanted to get that beautiful “natural” beach curl look to your hair? I want to share with you a technique that works for ALL types of hair, whether it be short, long, thick, thin, frizzy, or flat… and no curling iron involved! 1. Dampen your hair with a spray bottle or let it semi air dry after washing it. As you can tell, I have a lot of wave to my hair, but this works for all hair types! 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Something to keep in mind is, obviously, the wetter your hair is to begin with, the longer it takes to dry. Give it a try! Do you have any tips on how this will work on your hair type?
