Make your own jellyfish in a bottle. The other day, while I was thinking to get something to put in the water bottle for Bhoom to shake for fun. I saw a plastic grocery bag next to me and then this idea popped up. I think.. well, give it a try. With some trials and errors, my little jellyfish comes alive just like I thought it would be. : ) When daddy and son first saw it, they’re surprised with their jaws wide open. Things you need to make your own jellyfish (Hope you can find all these in your kitchen) : 1. Instruction: • Flatten the bag and cut off the handle and the bottom part (see picture 1) • Cut along both sides (see picture 2) to split into 2 plastic sheets – by the way, we only use just one of them. • From the center of the plastic sheet, fold it like a tiny balloon to make the head part and tie it with the thread – not too tight (see picture 3). Bubble Wrap Keeps You Warm Heating bills are expensive! It’s no joke. As much as I love saving energy and hate spending money on utility bills, I always have to crank the heat in the winter. (Except for living in NY because the heat is general free, building controlled, and your apartment turns into hot death.) I’ve thought about basements and garages and big houses and how they must be ridiculously expensive to heat. The guys (or girls) over at Build it Solar have come up with a really easy method to insulate your windows. Installation Cut the bubble wrap to the size of the window pane with scissors. The hardest step is probably the first one but once that’s done it should be a really quick job. Here are the downsides: It will make your vision out of that window blurry. Where can you find bubble wrap ? I like this guy – he dresses just like my dad. They included this crazy calculation about how you’re saving a lot of money at the end. Payoff The bubble wrap has a short payback in cold climates. stumbleupon

ingthings Arrow bracelet - #2 Friendship Bracelet Tutorial After you've done a few successful strip bracelets (pattern 1), you're ready to do the arrow one (chevron, #2). For this bracelet you need to know both forward and backward knots. When you're doing the arrow bracelet, you need two strings of each colour. The strings should be the same length as while doing the striped bracelet (1 metre). Tie your strings in one knot on the top and fasten it on your safety pin. In the knots tutorial, it shows you how to make both forward and backward knots, which you should already know. The working strings for the first 'V' or an arrow, is going to be blue. On the left hand side, make a forward knot over the pink string. On the right hand side, make a backward knot over the other pink string. On the left hand side, make a forward knot with the blue string over the green string. On the right hand side, make a backward knot with the blue string over the other green string. In this bracelet you need to tie downward like in every other bracelet.
Blog Archive » Locks that can re-key themselves? Hey everybody, As I'm sure you all know, I normally post about IT security here. But, once in awhile, I like to take a look at physical security, even if it's just in jest. Well, this time it isn't in jest. I was at Rona last week buying a lead/asbestos/mold-rated respirator (don't ask!), when I took a walk down the lock aisle. Now, maybe I'm an idiot (in fact, my best friends would swear it). How it's used So, in normal use, this is what you do. When you take it out of the package, it looks like a normal lock with an extra little hole in the side: You stick in the proper key, turn it a 1/4 turn (so the key is horizontal), as shown here: Then, in the little hole, you use the special "re-key" tool that it comes with: Once the tool's been inserted, you can pull out the key: At this point, the lock is in "re-key mode". Turn it back to the original position: And remove it: Congratulations! Vocabulary Key pins are the pins that touch the key How it works Re-keying Then the re-key tool is inserted: Locking
TetraBox Light by Ed Chew Liquid to Light Designer Ed Chew takes a green step in the right direction with the TetraBox lamp, a light object made from discarded drink packets that would have otherwise ended up in landfills already packed to the brim. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape.
