The Bitterroot Footage My name is Chad. I'm a student at a university in New York. I just moved to a studio apartment and needed some furniture. I found a guy on Craigslist that wanted to desperately get rid of his things at super cheap prices so I went to check it out. He sold things in bulk to get rid of as much things as possible. An old wooden box caught my attention. The film was pretty damaged so I just kept it on my bookshelf as decoration, but I couldn't get the images of the pictures out of my head. With help from Dario, we got an old 8mm projector in good working condition on Ebay. I asked my friend to help me make this website so I can share my findings. Wooden Box and photos Open Box with film can and photos One of the photos The projector we're using with plastic reels. Footage online The Photos are online as I promised. Main Page

Ads Worth Spreading Ads honored through Ads Worth Spreading can be as long as it takes to communicate the idea powerfully, up to five minutes, whether that’s through state-of-the-art animation, lush imagery or an individual talking directly to the camera. What matters is the “a-ha” moment -- the central idea. The thing that makes consumers connect to the idea in the same way that TED speakers connect with their audience. Ads Worth Spreading began as a clarion call to the global advertising community in 2011, asking for ads that inspired and engaged audiences. TED received nearly 1,000 entries and picked 10 outstanding examples. In 2013, six nomination teams of two – made up of one renowned TED speaker and one rising star from the advertising industry – nominated compelling ads from diverse areas of interest: Talk, Social Good, Cultural Compass, Creative Wonder, Brand Bravery and Education. This is not an award show. This is a dialogue on ideas that brands should want to be a part of.

Retrospective and Evolution of Apple Ads Apple Computer Inc. was established on April 1st, 1976 and incorporated on January 3rd, 1977. Apple first started advertising its products in the late 1970s. Here’s a amazing compilation of some of Apple’s most notable advertisements from the 70s until the 2002. It’s amazing how much the Apple product line and technology in general has evolved in such a relatively short period of time. In the 80s ads were text-heavy and light on images, as were many computer and technology ads from that era. It’s also interesting to see how the ads changed as the hardware changed. Dr. Robert Epstein: Why Google Should Be Regulated (Part 1) Regulatory agencies have been nipping at Google's heels, but they need to go straight for the throat. Google reminds me of Adam, the cute, 100-foot-tall toddler in the 1992 Rick Moranis film, Honey I Blew Up the Kid. In case you missed it, Adam keeps stumbling over buildings, mistakes real cars for toys, and ultimately threatens the existence of Las Vegas. Adam -- the errant father of the human race. Google -- the company named after an astronomically large number (1 with a hundred zeros after it) that controls access to most of the information on earth and that finds innovative ways to get in trouble several times a year. Here are recent examples of Google's stumbles: ● In February 2010, Google stunned privacy advocates by rolling out Buzz, a social networking service that automatically enrolled Google's 175 million Gmail users, instantly creating a "circle of friends" for each user based on who they emailed most often. The message is not entirely false, and that's the problem.

Destroying the myths of child beauty pageants - The Drum Opinion Find More Stories Destroying the myths of child beauty pageants Collett Smart How far will we go before we call out 'stop!' as we witness this train wreck of an activity that parents are involving exploiting their children in? Daisey Mae, an eight-year-old girl featured on Toddlers & Tiaras, has just this week been observed in a teaser clip telling cameras that, "Facial beauty is the most important thing, in life and in pageants." She is also seen saying: 'If you think your kid is ugly or something, you might not want to do pageants because you're not going to win or anything." I actually feel sorry for Daisy, as she would not have come up with these ideas all on her own. March saw the publication of a French report calling for an end to the sexualisation of children by Chantal Jouanno, a senator and former sports minister. Simply put, child beauty pageants pit little girls against each other from a very young age and create an early morbid awareness of body image. Email Share x del.icio.us Digg

Every year, some of Britain's biggest retailers turn TV commercial breaks into a winter wonderland. We all know it's a long way from reality, but it still looks like a nice place to visit - so just how far away is it? It always snows Picture the scene. Snowflakes flutter gently from a pale sky on to a glistening winterscape below, where woollen-clad, rosy-cheeked children build a perfectly rounded snowman. This is the wondrous scene depicted in many a Christmas advert - and this year is no different. But how realistic is a white Christmas day? Not very. BBC weather producer Sara Thornton says it is too early to say if we will see snow this Christmas: "In some parts of the UK, you are statistically more likely to see a white Good Friday than a white Christmas day. Mums do everything Sexist? "It's a missed opportunity if it's just left to one person.

These 6 Corporations Control 90% Of The Media In America Scenes from an Atrocity: Videos in War I first heard about the Syrian rebel who was supposed to have eaten a heart on Monday, when a friend who lives in Beirut tweeted something cryptic about abuse videos. Against my better instincts, I opened one of the links he attached to his tweet. It showed soldiers (or was it militia members? Rebels? It can be hard to tell in Syria) beating prisoners, whipping them with ropes. Such videos have increasingly come to represent a new weapon in modern wars-by-terror. It’s sobering to acknowledge that, for a previous generation of television viewers—not so long ago—the most terrifying thing they had ever seen (and for many it induced enduring fears) was the shower scene in “Psycho.” Once, some years ago in Iraq, where I was spending long periods of time reporting, I decided I had to look at one of these videos. The video began with the hapless Turk seated facing the camera, expressionlessly kneeling in front of men who wielded guns and swords and wore black executioner’s masks.
