This is not to say that I haven’t been busy. More broadly, however, and looking more seriously at the future, my work in commercial 3d visualization is winding down. This does not mean that I will not be making images or constructing digital environments. If this is enigmatic, it is not on purpose. Sampler February 6th, 2012 by tsvilans Small update of various things that have been occupying me for the last few months. Regional Shopping Centre July 19th, 2011 by tsvilans Another competition project for DIALOG. Possibly the biggest (in terms of scale) project I’ve accomplished to date… Mixed-Use Development A competition project for DIALOG that was done on a very tight deadline of a few days. Extreme deadline + large printing size + large urban context + complex programme = very little sleep + elevated heart rate. Port Colborne Recreation Centre
Art ArtFoodHistory The Wines of Gala: Salvador Dalí’s Surrealist Wine Guide Republished for the First Time in 40 Years Last published in 1978, The Wines of Gala is Salvador Dalí’s eccentric guide to wine grapes and their origin. Filled with over 140 appropriated artworks and collages collected and created by Dalí, the book is an equally surreal follow-up to TASCHEN’s reprinting of the artist’s cookbook Les Diners de Gala. In addition to Jean-François Millet’s The Angelus, which was a constant point of reference in Dali’s works, visuals include a Bacchus-like kitten, and a sort of tableau vivant featuring Dali himself. In keeping with Dalí’s efforts to create artwork based on his emotions, memories, and dreams, the artist chose to organize the wines in the book by how they influenced his mood. The 296-page wine bible published by TASCHEN is now available for pre-order. Renders y Arquitectura 3D, Infografía 3D, Animación y Vídeo desde Barcelona End of an Experiment - Architecture Program Architectural galleries tend to work rather like architectural museums, by presenting visitors with two or three-dimensional representations of built architecture, i.e. drawings, photographs or also models. However, if architecture is understood as a cultural discipline that is not just encountered through reproductions, but also by physical experiences, then the traditional methods of architectural presentation are wholly unsuitable. Carson Chan and Fotini Lazaridou-Hatzigoga, both of whom studied architectural history and theory at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard, decided in 2006 to explore other means of architectural presentation by founding Program, Initiative for Art and Architecture Collaborations. The idea for this arose when Chan was working at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin for the exhibition "Oswald Matthias Ungers" and starting thinking fundamentally about the theory and practice of architectural exhibitions. Surreal Structures Blog | Fran's works, tutorials and industry news I did the cloth simulations in Marvelous Designer 2, the rest of the modeling in 3ds Max, and the textures and lighting with Arion for Max. Hi everyone. Here is my latest pet project: This was rendered using Arion for 3ds Max. Thanks for watching! Hi everyone. Happy New Year everyone! I hope this greeting finds you all well. Does anyone else feel uncomfortable with the new Adobe CC pricing/subscription scheme? Since I’ve just upgraded my CS5 to CS6, I think I won’t have to worry about it for the next few years, but I wanted other people’s input on this issue. RandomControl recently released Rhino LIVE, which is the Arion gpu/hybrid render engine fully integrated into Rhino 3D. Image by Vitaliy Khramoykin Render by Paul Sherstobitoff RandomControl, makers of Arion and Max LIVE have announced the release of Rhino LIVE, fully-integrated Arion for Rhinoceros 3D. See all the details here: Hi everyone, Rendered with RandomControl Arion
