Pope John Paul II Gets Facebook Page VATICAN CITY — The Vatican will unveil the latest installment in its social media transformation next week – a Facebook page dedicated to the upcoming beatification of Pope John Paul II, officials said. The site, which will link to video highlights of John Paul's 27-year papacy, is designed to promote the May 1 beatification. But it may well continue beyond given the global and enduring interest in the late pontiff, Vatican officials told The Associated Press. The Vatican's first attempt at an event-themed Facebook page – to promote Pope Benedict XVI's September trip to the United Kingdom – is still active six months later and updated near-daily with 10,000-15,000 regular fans checking in, said Monsignor Paul Tighe, the No. 2 in the Vatican's social communications office. "What we found is that Facebook doesn't just share information, it creates community," Tighe said in an interview Friday. "People begin talking to each other and sharing ideas."

Hypertext Preprocessor We are continuing to work through the repercussions of the php.net malware issue described in a news post earlier today. As part of this, the php.net systems team have audited every server operated by php.net, and have found that two servers were compromised: the server which hosted the www.php.net, static.php.net and git.php.net domains, and was previously suspected based on the JavaScript malware, and the server hosting bugs.php.net. The method by which these servers were compromised is unknown at this time. All affected services have been migrated off those servers.

Clean Tweets: The Search Spam Solution Twitter Should Build Spam: the despised garbage of the web. Spam on Twitter: A very painful form of spam, since Twitter is a public broadcast social tool. It only gets worse because there are no spam filters to relieve us of tweets that tell us we need acai berries or list every trending topic imaginable. We've discussed how scammers are utilizing Twitter to fill the Twitterverse with their junk. The kicker is that Twitter hasn't implemented solutions like filters that are standard on every email account.

We thought it best to invite people to start when they are ready, offering individual support as required. We’re only three weeks into our school year and it’s exciting to note how many teachers already have blogs up and running, even if some are still at the stage of learning how to post. It was also great, during planning sessions last week, to hear several previously tech-resistant teachers suggesting ways to incorporate new tools to support learning. While we still have a long way to go before technology is seamlessly integrated into the learning throughout our primary school, it’s encouraging to realise how far we have come. Here are some tips, based on our experience:
