People of Clouds In the Mixteca, one of the most impoverished regions in Mexico, migration to the United States has arrived like a storm. In a place so insular that pre-columbian languages like Mixteco, Trique, and Asmuzgos are still spoken more widely than Spanish, and where cars, electricity and indoor plumbing are recent introductions, if they exist at all, northern migration has emptied communities and transformed the lives of those left behind. Some villages have lost as much as 80% of their population to the north and have become little more than ghost towns, home to just a handful of old men, women and the left-behind children of migrants. In San Miguel Cuevas -- or Nuyuco, Face of the Mountain, in Mixteco -- just 500 people out of 3000 remain. Its streets are largely empty, its fields stand deserted, its century-old way of life lies in shambles as families dissolve to the north, rending the social fabric of this traditional agrarian society.

Obama: US troop withdrawal to begin President Barack Obama told war-weary Americans in a 15 minute address from the East Room of the White House that the United States had largely achieved its goals in Afghanistan and that a withdrawal of American troops would be set in motion. He said Afghanistan no longer represented a terrorist threat to the United States and that the "tide of war is receding." He announced plans to withdraw 10,000 troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year. The remaining 20,000 troops from the 2009 "surge" would leave by next summer. He added that the drawdown would continue "at a steady pace" until the US handed over security to the Afghan authorities in 2014. President Sarkozy, of France, said he would also begin drawing down the 4,000-strong French contingent in Afghanistan. U.S.

這幅是畫還是相片？ 四十秒小狗變大狗 塵世間裏的睡姿百態 By Alex On ·這張相怎拍？ . 這不是畫，這是一張照片！ 這張由法蘭斯藍廷拍攝的照片中，展現了太陽光照射沙丘呈現的橘色光芒，成功和前方枯樹的黑色，以及陰影裡的沙地因反射天空所泛起的暗藍色，運用鏡頭捕捉陽光降臨大地的須臾。 拍攝的地點在納比米亞「納米比－諾克魯夫國家公園（Namib-Naukluft Park）」，Dead Vlei 被四周被 300～400 公尺的沙丘所包圍，這一帶過去原本會在鄰近的 Tsauchad 河氾濫時，產生間歇性的地下水源，提供部分動植物生存所需，但後來因氣候變遷，隨著乾旱而來的是四周沙丘壟起，阻斷水源進入，改變了當地生態環境，當地的枯樹也因為長年累月的太陽烤曬，樹幹不僅變成黑色，還因為過度乾燥，雖然枯了也無法被分解，就這樣一直聳立在那裡，加上沙地因太陽折射改變的顏色，成為當地的奇特景觀。 國家地理雜誌網站原圖： 關於作者 Alex - Only the originals survive Blog More from my site Follow Us! 來自布拉格的摔跤少女，拍攝技法大公開 之前紅遍半邊天的東京漂浮少女，讓人發現攝影有相當多變的玩法，最近台灣也出現了仆街少女，引起小小的話題；筆者發現最近遠在地球另一端歐洲也出現了一位摔跤少女，以假亂真的摔跤技巧令人驚艷，作者也大方公佈摔跤照的拍攝技法，除了需要前製手動加工、事後也用到一些後製修圖技巧，讓我們一起來看看。 出生於捷克布拉格的Zuzi，是位喜歡攝影的少女，除了拍正常的東西外，也很擅長拍摔跤的照片。當然這位來自布拉格的少女並不是真的摔跤（那可能早已經摔成腦震盪了），也不會偉大的少林武功，因此摔跤照片是靠一些技法、以及電腦修圖後製完成。 ▲一張以假亂真的摔跤照，摔的栩栩如生。 ▲其實拍攝時有用椅子撐住身體，手也扮演重要角色，先抓住頭髮和裙擺。 ▲拍攝時，手往上甩，讓手部、頭髮和裙擺製造出流動感 從上述的說明，可發現摔跤照的拍攝方式和拍攝漂浮少女相同，需要用高速快門和連拍方式凍結瞬間影像；也得知摔跤照並不全然只是靠修圖，最好能現場製造出摔跤的動感，這比用後製還容易、自然的多。 ▲後製教學影片。 以下是Zuzi其他的摔跤、漂浮圖片： 資料、圖片來源：salad of my life - Zuzi Photographic Clichés | Martin Parr I first came to Mar del Plata, the largest Argentine seaside resort, way back in 2007 when I was shooting images for my Playas project, a survey of Latin American beaches. I was amazed then at the scale of the resort. It has two thousand hotels, sixteen kilometres of beaches, and welcomes over seven million visitors a year. In terms of scale, Mar del Plata dwarfs other well known resorts across the globe, including Copacabana, Blackpool and Benidorm, yet it is virtually unknown beyond Argentina. Keen to return and explore further with my camera, here I am, many years later, in the first week of January, the busiest week of the Argentine summer season. The central beach is called Bristol and I take great pride in telling people that I actually live in the original Bristol. Slowly but surely the beach fills, as the sunshine intensifies and the heat builds up. Bristol is the traditional beach of Mar del Plata. Mar del Plata caters for all classes. Japan's crisis: one month later Japan is just in the beginning of the long term recovery effort from the earthquake that struck off northeastern Japan on March 11. The crisis alert level from the damage to the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant has now been raised to the highest level of impact, the same as the Chernobyl Russia incident 25 years ago. Searchers continue to look for the dead, displaced Japanese live in shelters, protests continue over use of nuclear power, Japan's economic engine may be disrupted, the massive cleanup of debris is just underway, aftershocks are feared and many continue to mourn those who were lost.
