Mahogany Mail linux archive In 1992, ibiblio began began accepting and redistributing open source software projects into its Linux software archive. These projects consisted mainly of tar or gzipped source code bundles, combined with descriptive metadata called a Linux Software Map. Since then, the ibiblio Linux Archive grew to 12 GB in size. Project hosting sites, such as sourceforge.net, and the development of Linux distribution package repositories extended the success of the Linux Archive. The Linux Archive is no longer accepting submissions.

Edit: Unfortunately, the images originally included in this post are gone, because of hosting problems in late 2009. I’ve had just about enough of Graveman. But short of installing the Gnome superstructure just to use Brasero or Gnomebaker, I found Pyburn, a teeny weeny Python-GTK application written by Judd Vinet, the same person who put together Arch Linux. It’s really just a frontend for cdrecord, but that’s enough to keep me happy. I’m going to try it in Gutsy next, although I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work. P.S.: I did notice that my CD didn’t fixate when I did python pyburn, but it did when I used sudo python pyburn, so be warned. Like this: Like Loading...
