Prostate Cancer and Pomegranate July 5, 2006 -- A glass of pomegranate juice a day may keep prostate cancerprostate cancer recurrence away, UCLA researchers report. Treatment cures two out of three men with early prostatecancercancer. But after treatment, a third of men have rising levels of prostate-specific antigen -- PSA -- in their blood. Cancer-fighting chemicals are found in many foods. Pantuck's team enrolled 46 men in a study funded by the owners of POM Wonderful Co., the maker of the pomegranate juice used in the study. The men's overall PSA doubling time was nearly four times slower after they began drinking pomegranate juice. "I was surprised when I saw such an improvement in PSA numbers," Pantuck said, in a news release. Pantuck says that pomegranate juice may allow 65- to 70-year-old men treated for prostate cancer to outlive their risk of dying from their cancer. Prostate cancer patients with rising PSA levels usually opt for treatment with drugs that block testosterone.
What can I reuse or recycle to make soap moulds? | How can I recycle this? I made my first batch of cold-process soap earlier in the year – it took FOREVER to trace, but we’ve loved the resulting soap so I need to make some more. Ever since I made that first batch, I’ve been on the look out for what I can use as moulds this time around. Last time, I had two old food trays for bar soaps, but when I ended up making a lot more soap than I’d originally intended, I grabbed whatever else I could find – some shaped fruit trays (small hand soaps), an old round ice cream tub (too wide when sliced into discs so had to cut them into semi-circles, which was a bit odd) and the square edged plastic bottles the olive oil had come in (nice size hand soaps, but it was awkward to get it out). All sorts of packaging has been subject to my “would it make nice soap?” Anyway, long story slightly shorter, what else can I reuse or recycle to make either interesting shaped soaps or simple practical ones? Or on the flipside, anything you’ve used that you’d urge other people not to use?

Cancer Cells Will HATE You For Drinking Bitter Melon Juice And Here’s Why Don’t judge a book by its cover. Same goes for food. Fitting into the stereotypical if-it’s-good-for-me-it-can’t-taste-good category, bitter melon may look funny (like a warty cucumber) and may have a sharp taste, but it kills cancer cells. It Really is Bitter–Sugar-Loving Cancer Doesn’t Like it. Commonly used in Chinese cooking and medicine, the juice of bitter melons (also known as bitter gourd or karela) contains an enzyme that inhibits the transportation of glucose (sugar), cutting off cancer cells’ food supply. When bitter melon juice was introduced to pancreatic cancer cells, progression was halted and reversed. “BMJ [bitter melon juice] also inhibits proliferation, induces apoptosis and activates AMPK [a biomarker for cellular energy status] in vivo. A 2013 study found similar response to head and neck cancer; when mice were fed bitter melon juice, tumors stopped growing.[2] One Thing Leads to Another. They were right. Tips! Björksirap
25 Cancer Stem-Cell Killing Foods That Are Smarter Than Chemo and Radiation By Sayer Ji Contributing Writer for Wake Up World A new scientific review has identified 25 of the top foods and herbs which kill cancer stem cells at the root cause of cancer malignancy. There are thousands of natural compounds that have been studied with demonstrable anti-cancer activity (check out over 600 on GreenMedInfo’s cancer research database), but only a small subset of these have been proven to target and kill the cancer stem cells which lie at the root of cancer malignancy. Turmeric, for instance, we have featured a number of times for its “smart kill” property of targeting just the heart of cancerous tumors. A new study published in the journal Anticancer Research, titled “Natural Products That Target Cancer Stem Cells“, has made our job much easier of identifying this special category of cancer killers by reviewing the extant literature on the topic and listing the top 25 substances in this category. 25 Cancer Stem Cell Killing Foods Why are these substances so important?
