Con i bimbi dai 7 anni in su, dopo aver introdotto con il gioco le prime regole della fonetica inglese, ci divertiamo a giocare a Bingo e leggere “al volo” le paroline. This improv line generator is designed to help students start a scene instantly. It's easy to use. Put students in pairs and let them choose who goes first. That student clicks the "New Line" button, says the line, and away the scene goes. There's only one rule of improv: Always say yes! It's helpful to model how intonation and body language can change the meaning of a line before doing this activity. Contrariamente a mio figlio grande, con cui mi “sono limitata” a parlare inglese sin dai primi anni di vita e chiedere di leggere libri in inglese solo dai 7 anni, lasciando alla scuola tutto l’onere e l’onore di insegnargli a scrivere, con la piccola pare che non possa concedermi questo lusso. Da settimane mi chiede di scrivere e leggere insieme e ho dovuto rispolverare il mio materiale Jolly Phonics, il set di carte alfabeto, i libri fonetici riscrivibili e tanta energia ed entusiasmo per affrontare questo metodo con gioia e nel modo giusto =) Complice anche il corso che sto seguendo nelle ultime settimane “Supporting children with difficulties in reading and writing” e i testi obbligatori in cui il metodo fonico viene menzionato spesso, non ho potuto esimermi e ho riscoperto il piacere di insegnare i primi rudimenti della lettura e scrittura fermo restando che, nel caso in cui mia figlia si “stufi”, ritornerei alla mia ormai collaudata tecnica di “lasciamo fare alla scuola” =)

Have you ever had a problem that you just couldn’t solve for ages? Then suddenly someone says one word, or just shows you one simple picture, and you get that “aha” moment — you suddenly understand everything? Well, over the many, many years I’ve been teaching English, I’ve found that some simple images can help explain rules in English that cause so many problems for people. Hopefully, they’ll help you, too. So here are some of my most effective little pictures to help you remember English rules. Forever! Maybe. In, on or at for place? I’ve actually talked about this in a previous post, but it’s good to see it in a different way. Usually (but not always), we use: “In” when it’s 3-dimensional I’m in this really dark room and I can’t get out. “On” when it’s a straight line I’ve been on this road for about 8 hours and I still can’t get off it. “At” when we feel like it’s a point on a map I’ll meet you at the station. That’s why we can have one person saying, “Are you at the station yet?” A or the? OK.

Il MOOC che sto seguendo con grande interesse ha anche il merito di regalarmi e regalarci stimoli, idee e siti da riutilizzare in classe. Tra i tanti spunti, oggi voglio condividere quattro siti che, contrariamente ai tanti in cui possiamo trovare schede ed esercizi stampabili (anche se confesso di prediligerne giusto un paio per i miei allievi) questi danno la possibilità di creare esercizi personalizzati velocemente e facilmente. Tutti e quattro i siti sono utili soprattutto per esercizi di vocabolario e spelling. Eccoli qua: Crossword games, word search games, jigsaw puzzles e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Christamas is coming - Attività sul Natale - Jack Potato
Finalmente il Natale sta arrivando, le classi si riempiono di addobbi, i nostri alunni già pregustano le imminenti vacanze e noi insegnanti siamo alle prese con le attività natalizie. Prove di saggi, lavoretti e canzoni a tema rallegrano e riempiono le nostre giornate. Adoro il Natale! Per le attività di inglese ho pensato al CHRISTMAS MINIBOOK per il ripasso del lessico associato a delle CHRISTMAS FLASHCARDS a colori e a un’attività di CHRISTMAS ART AND CRAFT. Chi frequenta il nostro neo-nato blog già conoscerà il termine minibook: si tratta di due fogli A4 che vanno tagliati e incollati a formare una sorta di libricino. Con le flashcards potrete presentare il vocabolario e organizzare numerosi giochi, come INDOVINA LA FLASHCARD: si appendono 4-6 flshcards alla lavagna, poi si fanno chiudere gli occhi ai bambini e si toglie una delle carte. Come Christmas art and craft ho pensato invece di utlizzare l’albero di Natale.
