Eschaton - Nightly
The advantage of BRT is that you can combine segments of a route that have a dedicated lane with segments that don't. Counting operating and ongoing capital costs, the dedicated lane bits aren't really much cheaper than rail, but in theory you can combine express segments with local ones so that buses can make use of existing roads and also the dedicated lanes. Rail obviously can only use the bits you build for it. But the problem with BRT is always BRT creep. People start deciding that they can save a little money here and there, and that dedicated lanes aren't such a great idea after all, and then you have... a bus. And buses are great, but they're buses, stuck in traffic like everybody else.

Hoodoo (folk magic) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Nightly Hoodoo, also known as "conjure" and sometimes confused with "voodoo," is a traditional African-American folk spirituality that developed from a number of West African, Native American and European spiritual traditions. Hoodoo has some spiritual principles and practices similar to spiritual folkways in Haitian, Cuban, Jamaican and New Orleans traditions. Hoodoo seems to have evolved in the Mississippi Delta where the concentration of slaves had been dense. Hoodoo then spread throughout the Southeast as well as North along the Mississippi as African Americans left the Delta beginning in the 1930s. There is strong mainstream American prejudice against hoodoo, based on the myths that hoodoo is practiced primarily with selfish, hurtful intentions, or that it is related to worship of the Christian devil, Satan[citation needed]. With his group The Pharaohs, he was also the first to record it, and it got some airplay in some cities in the Western US when it was released in 1957. Various garage bands heard it and started covering the song, until it became a phenomena with the Kingsmen's 1964 version. While much of the song's notoriety comes from the indecipherable lyrics, in Berry's original version words are quite clear: the song is about a sailor who spends three days traveling to Jamaica to see his girl. Dwight Rounds, author of The Year The Music Died, 1964-1972, writes: "The words to Louie, Louie are almost impossible to understand, and are rumored to be obscene.
