Are Online Classes Right for You? By Chris Kyle Are you thinking about going back to school - and doing it online? You're not alone. According to the Sloan Consortium, 5.6 million students studied online in 2009. To add some perspective to that statistic, nearly 30 percent of the 19 million full-time and part-time students enrolled in all colleges and universities in the country took at least one online course in 2009. To help you decide if studying online is right for you, we put together five things to keep in mind when considering going to school online. #1 - Busy Adults May Need Online Flexibility "It's nearly impossible for many people to take a lunch break, let alone leave the office for two hours to take a class," says Pam Dixon, author of "Virtual College." Western Governors University, for example, has over 24,000 online students, with ages ranging from the 20s all the way to the 60s. At Ozarks Technical Community College (OTCC) in Missouri, the average online student is 29-years-old. Interested in Studying Online?

Higher Education Goes High-Tech By Chris Kyle You want to go back to school but you have one big worry: namely, how are you going to find the time? Thankfully, new innovations in online education - like web cams, live online chats, and online discussion boards - may offer the flexibility you need to earn your degree. The idea of a more flexible, inclusive learning format actually stretches back to 1858 when the University of London offered the first distance learning degree by mail. Today online education is evolving rapidly, much like enrollment, with nearly six million students taking at least one online course in the fall of 2009, according to the non-profit Sloan Consortium which tracks online education. That's an increase of almost one million students from the previous year, Sloan says. Keep reading to learn about four popular degrees you can earn online and see how modern technology is enhancing the education experience.
