Students can receive FWS funds at approximately 3,400 participating postsecondary institutions. Hourly wages must not be less than the federal minimum wage. A participating institution applies each year for FWS funding by submitting a Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) to the U.S. Students may be employed by: the institution itself; a federal, state, or local public agency; a private nonprofit organization; or a private for-profit organization. Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of the application process for FWS assistance.
Conservatory: Financial Aid Scholarships The AFI Conservatory offers a limited number of scholarships to incoming and current Fellows based on both financial need and demonstrated talent. Varying scholarship awards are available in each discipline to incoming Fellows with a range of scholarship opportunities accessible to returning Fellows. Scholarship selection is determined by AFI Conservatory Financial Aid and Awards Committee with advisement from select scholarship donors on a case-by-case basis. The saying “any publicity is good publicity” fits when trying to assess the value of FastWeb and other “for profit” Internet marketing portals. Stick with me to the end of this article for some excellent resources. Working through the FastWeb site, I quickly found the volume of personal information requested to get going—from the student’s prospective major to grade-point average and ethnic heritage and much more – was a marketer’s dream come true. Before seeing the scholarships, the site required me to click “no thanks” to offers from survey companies, online universities and U.S. Once you get to the scholarships FastWeb finds for you, how many are really worth pursuing?
