Why Use Wooden Roof Trusses Instead of Rafters? Building contractors have options when it comes to how to construct a roof. One of the first choices a contractor must make is whether to build rafters in place for a roof or use pre-made wooden trusses. Many builders find that using a truss roof system for San Diego homes not only provides an easy way to put up a solid, functional roof but also saves a great deal of money and allows for a variety of design choices. Building with rafters, a process known as “stick framing,” used to be the choice of most contractors due to the flexibility that this process offers. One of the biggest advantages of truss roofs, and the primary reason trusses have gained in popularity so quickly, is the cost-effectiveness of this method. Furthermore, trusses give you just as much, if not more, strength and durability than rafter roofs. If you have ever wondered, “What is the best truss company near me?”

Why Knowing Roof Pitch is So Important Skip to content Why Knowing Roof Pitch is So Important December 5, 2019 One of the most important aspects of the design of your home, business or other structure is the pitch of its roof. In addition to determining the aesthetics of your structure, its roof pitch will also play a large role in your roofing system’s overall performance and how efficiently it will steer water and debris away from the roof. How Roof Pitch is Expressed When talking with your building contractor, the roof pitch will be expressed as a measurement that’s determined by calculating the rising vertical inches for every 12 inches it stretches horizontally. For example, a 6/12 roof pitch refers to a roof that rises six inches for every 12 inches in runs straight across. The Differences in Roof Pitches Each structure will have its own roof pitch, and its own pros and cons. Low-pitched roofs typically require less materials but more work must be done to remove water and debris. Recent Blog Roof and Floor Truss Products
