Great Physics Resources for Students and Teachers I teach Physics and AP Physics B and have found some great resources over the years to use in class and to share with students as support materials. Here's a list of some of them. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Share your physics resources with us. Oral Presentation Structure | Learn Science at Scitable To be able to give their full attention to content, audience members need structure — in other words, they need a map of some sort (a table of contents, an object of the document, a preview), and they need to know at any time where they are on that map. A written document includes many visual clues to its structure: section headings, blank lines or indentations indicating paragraphs, and so on. In contrast, an oral presentation has few visual clues. Therefore, even when it is well structured, attendees may easily get lost because they do not see this structure. As a speaker, make sure you reveal your presentation's structure to the audience, with a preview, transitions, and a review. The preview provides the audience with a map. Transitions are crucial elements for revealing a presentation's structure, yet they are often underestimated. Similarly, a review of the body plays an important double role.
Web Video for the Classroom by Dean Baird The lessons below were designed to work as quick drop-ins in a high school physics class. I'm sure they could work in other science courses, too. These are not the "meat and potatoes" of the course, but they serve as engaging enrichments. To conserve space, I posted "video thumbnails" here. I also hope to add more lessons as more material materializes. NOVA scienceNOW Can Wind Turbines Make You Sick? Residents living in the shadows of wind turbines say the sound is making them sick. Me gusta:

Magnetismo Magnetic Fish Hooks Save Sharks By Ari Daniel Shapiro Posted 04.05.12 NOVA It sounds like a plot device from a comic book: a simple substance that can make the powerful weak. But it's not kryptonite. An enterprising chemist says he's found a substance—several, in fact—that work against some of the most fearsome predators in the ocean. And he wants to use his discovery to protect them. Listen to the story. A chance discovery that sharks avoid rare earth magnets may help protect them from over-fishing Eric Stroud stands on a pier on the island of North Bimini in the Bahamas. Stroud is setting up an experiment. Eric Stroud displays a magnetized mix of two rare earth metals—neodymium and praseodymium—that he has found to be highly effective at repelling sharks. A Passion for Repellents For more than a decade, Stroud has been working to develop shark repellents. When they got home, he set up several kiddie pools in his basement, and he filled them with small sharks. He demonstrates the effect in a seaside pen in the Bahamas.
