Lumina Clay Leaves at Camille Young
I’ve been getting a lot of use out of these surprisingly realistic leaves, so I thought I’d share my process. I begin by mixing some acrylic paint into a little Lumina clay. I’ve been going for realism lately, but any color works well. I then roll the clay through a pasta machine at thickness setting 4-5. Roll the lumina (with the leaf this time) through the pasta machine a second time on the same setting you used previously. Carefully peel the leaf from the clay. Cut it out with an x-acto blade. Pinch the leaf to give it a little dimension and let it dry thoroughly. Coat the leaf with a light layer of acrylic paint if you’d like to highlight the veins. Before the paint dries, wipe away the excess with a moist paper towel. Add a coat of matte Mod Podge for a nice finish, and you’re done! Damascus Ladder Cane
Here's a terrific technique developed by Alan Vernall that can be used to produce visually striking patterns that can be worked beautifully with Polymer Clay. As you'll see with Alan's instructions, it's simple and amazingly effective! Background: Damascus Ladder is the name of a particular technique, used by metal craftsmen to give spectacular designs on knife and sword blades. These designs are created by fusing different grades and types of steel together and manipulating the heated metal to produce particular patterns. The patterns are revealed by acid etching almost at the end of the process of creation of the blades. I’ve developed a method that allows very similar patterning to the Damascus Ladder to be created in Polymer Clay. Materials: Choose four to seven colours of clay – the colour selection can be anything that appeals to you, but make sure there is good contrast between adjacent layers. You will need: green clay for lettuce flesh-colored clay for turkey red clay for cranberries artist pastels in brown, orange and gold (or whatever combination will give you a nice golden-brown color Gloss Varnish wad of aluminum foil paintbrush (to spread pastels) razor blade (to shave pastels) pic (to help move small items Platter for turkey--make or buy. Start by pulling off pieces of the green, and shredding slightly in your fingers to achieve a 'torn' lettuce look. Go all the way around the platter. Next, take your flesh color and mold it into the shape of a breast of turkey. Pick off two smaller pieces from your clay, and form into drumsticks. Next--wings! Make sure your turkey is going to cover all the garnish on the tray. Shave off a small amount of each color, and blend until you have the right shade for a cooked turkey. Once it is done to your satisfaction, set it onto the tray. This turkey hasn't been baked yet, but this gives you an idea of what it will look like.

Making polymer clay cakes
Making a cake base:I mixed white, translucent and ochre Fimo to get the right colour. Roll out the clay to a required thickness, then cut out the shape. While the cutter is still in clay, press out a hollow in a cake base. For giving a cake the baked look I mixed two pastels into a colour slightly darker than the clay itself. Making whipped cream. Decorate a cake as you wish. I made a second cake from leftovers of the first one. Slicing a cake. That's it :) Bake a cake in the oven and then cool it down. Then take lots of pictures :))) Bon appetit!

Fournitures Matériel Cutter (ou lame fine) Règle Gants en latex Machine à pâte (ou 1 rouleau de pâtisserie) Réfrigérateur Consommables De la pâte polymère (Fimo) blanche couleur vert chlorophylle couleur vert pomme transparente Comment faire ? Réalisons une cane spirale pour le cœur de la fleur. Enroulons-le en commençant par la couleur qui correspondra aux pointes des pétales. Coupons le cylindre obtenu en morceaux identiques. Coupons chaque cylindre en quatre dans la largeur. Ecrasons le dessus et dessous pour former une bande. Superposons 8 bandes. Pinçons les 2 côtés et aplatissons l'ensemble. Coupons la nouvelle bande obtenue en morceaux identiques. Positionnons les pétales. Ajoutons le coeur de la fleur (ici une simple cane spirale). Remplissons les vides avec de petits boudins en pâte transparente. Laissons reposer votre cane une nuit au frigo avant de passer à la réduction. Pour approfondir <A HREF="
