Goat + Sheep = baby Geep! Sheep-goat hybrid Oreo and his mum at a NSW children's daycare centre. Picture: Gary Graham Source: The Daily Telegraph HALF sheep, half goat? You've got to be kidding. While it sounds bizarre, the genetic fluke is officially known as a "geep". "One of the boys told me the lamb had arrived," Mr Crompton said. "It was dark, and I went into the paddock looking for her mother and she had this little black and white bundle. "We don't get black and white lambs, and as soon as I felt it I knew it didn't have wool, it had hair. "I said its father must be a goat." Proving to be more than just the black sheep of the family, the geep, named Oreo, was born to a sheep but is a genetic throwback from its father - a ram with goat genes. Oreo and her mother, Floss, are among a menagerie of animals on loan to Follyfoot Farm, a pre-school and long day care centre at Fountaindale in New South Wales, from nearby farms. Oreo runs like a goat and has a goat's face and feet but a sheep's build.

Best Of Cats Chillin' ~ Damn Cool Pictures - StumbleUpon There is a universal truth about cats: they can comfortably chill out and look like a boss pretty much anywhere. These are some very funny poses of some cats that were caught napping. Some of them find the darndest places to fall asleep. Source: uproxx A Beautiful Mess I love using cloth napkins to dress up our dinner table, and through the years I've grown even more fond of their sustainability and cost effectiveness. Though, I'm not sure how cost effective it is if you keep buying more and more cloth napkins each year! This holiday season I thought it would be fun to look at how I could dress up the napkins I already own to give them an extra festive vibe. Ribbon Trimmed Napkin This look is so (no sew) simple! Supplies:-ribbon-heat bond in width of ribbon-cloth napkin (buy mine here)-iron-fabric scissors (not shown above) Step One: Trim pieces of your ribbon to be about 1.5 inches longer than the width of your napkins. Step Two: Fold down the edges of each ribbon segment about 1/4" and iron flat. Step Three: Iron the heat bond to the ribbon (pressing with hot iron for two seconds), then peel off the paper backing. Step Four: Iron the ribbon in place on your napkin front with the heat bond facing down. Pom-Pom Trimmed Napkin That's all there is to it!

ZooBorns The San Diego Zoo’s Mandrill group welcomed a new addition to their ranks last week. Female, Kesi, gave birth to a baby boy, and he is the first Mandrill born at the Zoo in over 14 years. Animal care staff had been watching for Kesi to give birth; but the night before, there were still no signs she was in labor. The next day, staff members said they were surprised to see Kesi walk out of her bedroom holding her new baby. “It’s like every day we would come in, in the morning, and think like there might be a baby – we don’t know,” Jenny Baublit, senior primate keeper at the San Diego Zoo. This is the first baby for Kesi and male Mandrill, Jasper. Photo Credits: San Diego Zoo/Tammy Spratt The Mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is the largest and most colorful of the Old World monkeys. Mandrills are native to small social units in the rain forests of equatorial Africa. The species is listed as “Vulnerable” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.

What Koalas do When it is Hot — Animal Talk - StumbleUpon Uberman's sleep schedule Background The Uberman sleep schedule is a method of organizing your sleeping time to maximize your REM sleep and minimize your non-REM sleep. The goal of the sleep cycle is that you are actively in REM sleep within a couple of minutes of falling asleep and remain in that state until you awaken. I originally read about the schedule on everything2. In essence, someone utilizing the Uberman sleep schedule is actively modifying their sleeping habits so that they can immediately jump from waking to a few minutes worth of stage 1 sleep straight to stage 5 REM sleep, as described in this discussion of sleep stages. It is important to note that there are no studies as to the long-term physical or physiological impact of this sleep cycle. The Uberman's Sleep Schedule Sleeping Hours The Uberman's sleep schedule revolves around forcing yourself to rely on six twenty to thirty minute naps spread throughout the day for your daily dose of sleep. Benefits The obvious first benefit is more free time.
