Home - App Art Award After four succesful competitions, this year we celebrate the 5th AppArtAward-anniversary this year. The ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Cyberforum e.V. and their partners are again looking for the best artworks in app format. The AppArtAward honors apps that represent advanced artistic applications. Besides artistic aspects the creative integration as well as the use of options offered by new technologies is important.
Never Too Young to Learn to Code: Our Visit to Cambridge Friends School This spring, we visited the Cambridge Friends School, a coeducational elementary and middle school in Cambridge, Massachusetts that is using the HarveyMuddX MOOC Programming in Scratch in their seventh grade math class. The students were asked to complete three weeks of Scratch lessons at home, splitting their work on the MOOC with their math homework. They then returned to class ready to work collaboratively, share their projects and troubleshoot any difficulties. 25 Visual Studio Shortcuts For Developers We use Visual Studio, the Microsoft’s Integrated Development Environment (IDE), to develop computer programs in .Net, such as windows applications, web applications, windows or web services. I have summarized the must know keyboard shortcut keys for developers to make .Net Development a bit easier and more productive. Let us have a quick walk-through over those now. 1. Start Debugging
52 Of The Best Apps For Your Classroom In 2015 52 Of The Best Apps For Your Classroom In 2015 by TeachThought Staff This post was sponsored by CK-12, a non-profit foundation that creates and aggregates high quality curated STEM content. What are the best apps for your classroom? The best little bits of software to use tomorrow, in your school, to make your classroom go? This is, strangely, not a frequent topic for us. A guide to paper prototyping & testing for web interfaces — Digital Experience Design A guide to paper prototyping & testing for web interfaces This is a quick guide to paper prototyping & testing for web interfaces, as an early part of the «user centred design» process. It is aimed at any kind of professional that is involved in the process of creating web or other screen interfaces. The ultimate goal for this service is, that your average customer John, 28, may painlessly and easily place an order with his phone, based on the following criterias: John wants to order two pizzas. One is spicy salami, the other one he is not sure about yet.John wants to deliver to his work address. And he wants to be able to pay with his credit card. A main goal, personas, scenarios, user journeys or even storyboards should have been set up before you start prototyping.
Image Recognition Our brains make vision seem easy. It doesn't take any effort for humans to tell apart a lion and a jaguar, read a sign, or recognize a human's face. But these are actually hard problems to solve with a computer: they only seem easy because our brains are incredibly good at understanding images. In the last few years the field of machine learning has made tremendous progress on addressing these difficult problems. In particular, we've found that a kind of model called a deep convolutional neural network can achieve reasonable performance on hard visual recognition tasks -- matching or exceeding human performance in some domains. Researchers have demonstrated steady progress in computer vision by validating their work against ImageNet -- an academic benchmark for computer vision.
Prototypes Overview Using science and storytelling, ICT prototypes provide engaging experiences to improve skills in decision-making, cultural awareness, leadership and coping, to name a few. Imagine a veteran going online to speak anonymously to an interactive virtual coach who can remotely recognize signs of depression, PTSD and suicide risk and point the person in need to resources that can help. Picture a soldier learning how to address a case of sexual harassment through practice with a computer-generated virtual human education system that can role play conversations and teach a classroom of participants the best way to handle these and other tricky personnel issues that arise when young people live in close quarters, under stressful conditions. Consider computer games now available to troops stationed around the globe that can simulate what goes wrong when they don’t consider the indirect consequences of even their smallest interactions.
