I did manage to make a tasteful blanket out of Red Heart for my little sister's wedding present. I even splurged on some Lion Brand Microspun for hats and scarves for Andrew and I when we first met. I also got the Red Heart color cards, as you see above.

Tea at Weasel's Granny’s Border – in Progress | alottastitches After much consideration of yarn colors and amounts, I finally started working on the granny’s border! The darker aqua squares which frame the blanket are slighter larger than the inner squares of light aqua, because the darker aqua yarn is of a slightly heavier weight. With the help of some experimentation, I decided to skip one stitch out of every four or five stitches in the blanket’s edge as I crocheted the first round of its border. I made it a plain double-crochet round of the same darker aqua yarn, hoping this would make my irregularly spaced stitches less noticeable. I’m very pleased with how this technique eased in the extra dark aqua fabric, preparing it for the next two rounds, which I crocheted with a regular weight teal yarn. I began the first teal round by working three double-crochet stitches (a familiar granny cluster) into one stitch of the dark aqua, skipping the next two stitches, then repeating those two steps the rest of the way around. The only stitch that you need to know is single crochet, can you believe it? For this tutorial, I used my favorite crochet thread in size 3 with a size C crochet hook and a size 17 knitting needle. Chain 20. Insert crochet hook into each chain, yarn over and bring the loop up onto the knitting needle. You should now have 20 loops on your knitting needle. In groups of 5, gather the stitches off the knitting needle. Now begin to draw up your working yarn and chain 1 to close the group. Now make 5 single crochets in the space for the gathered stitches. Continue across row gathering 5 stitches, and making 5 single crochets in each group. Now 4 groups of 5 stitches made. Hook a loop onto your knitting needle at the working end of your row. Working across row, insert crochet hook into each single crochet, yarn over and bring the loop up onto the knitting needle.
