Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO Fitbit has discontinued their Fitbit One step trackers, which seems like a good opportunity to step back and reflect on wearing one for the last decade or so. I’ve enjoyed using Fitbit trackers, but the One devices seemed like they broke down too often. I’m pretty proud that I ended up earning all the activity-related Fitbit badges though: In 2013, I ran a 50 mile race and I took 110,472 steps that day. I think I did some extra steps late that night just in case Fitbit ever increased their top step badge from 100K to 105K or 110K steps. The lifetime miles badge took care of itself as long as I wore my Fitbit. But the Rainbow badge was a little harder: 700 floors in one day. DC isn’t known for its high buildings. That’s how I found myself on a Sunday morning in July 2018. Wait a second–the badge is only for 700 floors, so why did I climb 800+ floors? Overall, Fitbit’s badges have probably pushed me to walk more, along with a goal to get 10,000 steps a day.

Majestic SEO: Link Intelligence Tools SEO Editors - Search Optimisation Hummingbird Ups The Search Ante So, Thursday September 26th, Google has revealed the fact that a new algorithm has been running for a month. For people not in the industry, you may wonder why there had not been more guessing or supposition from the SEO community. As one of the search engine optimization professionals at My Favorite Web Designs who deals with the constant whims and vicissitudes of the Google engine updates, I can attest that it does not matter too much what it is called, just what it portends. According to the BBC article, this update utilized almost an AI – a computer algorithm that understands the interconnectedness of concepts and ideas, and thereby simulates something very akin to human understanding in its ability to associate concepts. Now, I am the first person I know using the word AI for hummingbird, but I have been assuming this would be the wave of the future. Going on a date with Google - SEO Editors It’s all about the first date… and this post covers some of the devious lengths Google will go to to get it. Why does Google want to get a date out of you? Time is generally accepted as an essential ingredient in the calculations of relevancy in SERPs. To try to benefit from these changes, many site owners looked for ways to touch up older pages and content to make it at least look more current. But what is Google looking for? With the drive to discover fresh content and attempts to improve the understanding of timelines, Google will try to ‘datestamp’ everything it finds… and it can make mistakes when generating a datestamp for your content that impacts your relevancy to search, especially if ‘date order’ is selected as an advanced search option. Unique IDs as Dates Many e-Com sites use unique identifiers in page titles in order to reduce duplications and create unique, informative pages. {brand} {product} {key feature} – {unique identifier} Dates in Content b) Tables of reference data
