Artificial Lighting and the Blue Light Hazard (Build 20111121092346) Research continues to warn about the danger of sunlight to the eyes. Doctors wisely respond by recommending eye protection while outdoors during daylight. Curiously, however, some lighting manufacturers say lamps duplicating sunshine are good for vision and eye health. Who is right? What is Light? (Fig. 1) As illustrated in Figure 1, the “visible light spectrum” is that small part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum seen as colors. The retina is a very thin, multi-layered tissue located at the back of the eyeball. (Fig. 2) As shown in Figure 3, light first enters the optic (or nerve) fiber layer and the ganglion cell layer, under which most of the nourishing blood vessels of the retina are located. (Fig. 3) The light is received by photoreceptor cells called rods (responsible for peripheral and dim light vision) and cones (providing central, bright light, fine detail, and color vision). The Blue Light Hazard Sight requires light. Terms Referring to Measurement of Light Kelvin (K): Watt:

I am going to ruffle a few feathers here by saying that Microsoft OneNote is just as good as Evernote. OneNote is the digital equivalent of a binder, giving you more organizational control. The showdown will continue, so for the sake of productivity and peace, let's say that both are great note-taking apps with their pros and cons. We have covered a bit of OneNote's capabilities with: But effective note-taking requires as many tips and tricks you can pull together. 1. That's how you start your day. Comparison of MP3 and AAC (Anders Jacobsen's blog) (Build 20111126031027) January 20, 2004 Comparison of MP3 and AAC I got my iPod hooked up to my PC last night after installing Win 2000 SP4. ITunes installed nicely and found all my existing mp3s. Now the real job starts: I've got over 300 CDs back home, and of course they're all going to go on to the iPod over the next months. iTunes proposes to rip in both AAC and MP3 formats, and from before I have a few Ogg Vorbis files, more out of curiousity (and those won't play on the iPod, so that's a goner), and this leaves me with the following question: Which format should I choose for putting my record collection on to my iPod? The iPod homepage says: Designed to give you the best portable digital music experience ever, the iPod delivers the highest sound quality from input to output. iPod supports the most popular audio formats — including MP3 (up to 320 kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and WAV — giving you access to a wide range of audio file types. Ok; but that's a promotional message. Good point, Eliot! Ben Marc
