New TouchDesigner Goes Gold, with Free Sharing, Ableton Live Sync, More From top: TouchDesigner powering the Plastikman show, Steve Mason’s Chapichapo. If you’ve been watching big-league visuals lately, things that made your eyeballs roll out into the crowd, odds are TouchDesigner might have been some of the software in use. The tool, established in years of use but perhaps little known outside a few select circles, has been making waves lately in some very nice shows. Even its interface is dazzling (and, indeed, figures directly in shows by the likes of Berlin label Raster Noton), flying through endlessly-zoomable graphical patching interfaces. One obstacle has stood in TouchDesigner’s way: accessibility. The uninterestingly-named TouchDesigner 077 Gold represents lots of iterative progress on this tool. As new to this edition is an integrated mapping tool, for three-dimensional projection mapping. Here’s what’s new. Full details in the ongoing release note log. Now about that “FTE” edition? Mapping ultra immersif !
Honda: HTML5 Chain Reactions Challenge So this is a super clever HTML5 site from Honda. It’s called “The Experiment” and is essentially a lab where you can play with all sorts of objects in a physics-based game that challenges you to complete that chain reaction using a set of objects by placing them in the correct sequence. Each of the object interacts with those around it to create hundreds of possibilities, combinations and results in real time. With each of the 6 levels getting harder and harder with additional objects and challenges thrown in, so get your engineering skills ready! The campaign takes you back to the “Cog” ad created for the Honda Accord, which weirdly only has 3 million YouTube views (I suspect if released today, would get 30m+), with the Cog playing a key role in solving each of the chain reaction challenges. Nice find Katy. Be Sociable, Share! Honda, Honda Chain Reactions, Honda Experiment, Honda HTML 5, Honda HTML5, Honda HTML5 Chain Reactions, Honda The Experiment, HTML 5, HTML5
Nokia N8 David Terranova 7 reasons I hated your speech It’s hard to believe how much I hated your speech. I hated your introduction. I hated the middle of your presentation. I hated your so-called conclusion. I hated the way you delivered your talk. As hard as it is to reduce all of the reasons I hated your speech down to just seven, I‘m going to try. Here are seven reasons I hated your speech: 1. You opened your speech without doing anything to get me interested in your topic. 2. You didn’t tell me where one thought ended and another began. As a result, I couldn’t figure out where you were and where you were leading me. 3. C’mon, now. Why didn’t you just highlight your most important points, tell me why they’re relevant, and add some memorable supporting material? 4. You had less energy than the geriatrics at the local senior home. Next time, try speaking about 15 percent louder. 5. I somehow made it through your speech without nodding off. But what should I do next? 6. 7. Visit the Mr.
GLGraphics Car Brands Still Using Sex to Sell The car industry has sometimes been accused of using sexually provocative ads to sell cars and there are plenty of recent examples that support that accusation. And, recently, many companies have been turning to a more tongue in cheek approach. Many decades ago there were a number of overtly sexist ads from car manufacturers which made frequent references towards the fact that women were unsafe drivers. Some manufacturer's continue to create controversial ads such as this print advert from BMW below, which compare a woman to a used car. Another recent example is from Australia for the Toyota Yaris which, though hilarious, was unsurprisingly banned very quickly. In 2010, to promote the new Nissan Juke, Nissan chose to create a series of ads which compared the car model to a supermodel. Ads involving provocative imagery are commonly for cars aimed at men. Certain car manufacturers take a tongue and cheek approach to the sex sells angle.
CINEMETRICS Which ads were most shared in 2011? Volkswagen: mini Darth Vader is most shared ad of 2011 Unruly Media's annual list is led by Deutsch USA's 'The Force' ad for Volkswagen, featuring a mini Darth Vader, which has racked up a massive 4.8 million shares across social networks since it hit the web. The ad was seeded online before being shown during the Super Bowl in the US, and was also shown on UK television. It has been shared in over 4.5 million Facebook updates, 170,000 tweets and just under 3,000 blog posts. Sarah Wood, the founder of Unruly Media, said sharing content was now much more popular than last year: "There was a 20% increase in the number of views the top 20 attracted, to 240 million, but a fivefold increase in the number of shares they attracted to 25 million." The highest-placed film from the UK was Saatchi & Saatchi's 'The T-Mobile Royal Wedding' with 1.74 million shares in fourth place – narrowly beaten by Saatchis' Italian office with another effort for T-Mobile, 'Angry Birds Live'.
