KesaCO? KEYNOTE: Managing a Collaborative Multi-National Team in Real Time Description: Team WIKISPEED entered a $10 Million competition to produce road legal 100+ mpg cars. They built the impossible in three months. Joe Justice will talk about Agile practices applied to enormously speed up physical manufacturing. Joe leads WIKISPEED, a team of 71 volunteers in 6 countries, and walks through how their 100 MPG road car was made possible through modular design, iterative development, and Agile project management. Joe takes a deep dive on exactly how Agile from software projects is applied to physical engineering and manufacture. The talk will provide tools and take-aways for engineers and executives, in manufacturing and software, looking to improve their processes. Stage: Keynote Session Type: Lecture Audience: All

Compressed earth block Building a CEB project in Midland, Texas in August 2006 Compressed Earth Block often referred to simply as CEB, is a type of manufactured construction material formed in a mechanical press that forms a compressed block out of an appropriate mix of fairly dry inorganic soil, non-expansive clay, aggregate, and sometimes a small amount of cement. Typically, around 3000 psi is applied in compression, and the original soil volume is reduced by about half. The compression strength of properly made CEB can meet or exceed that of typical cement or adobe brick. Building standards have been developed for CEB. Creating CEBs differs from rammed earth in that the latter uses a larger formwork into which earth is poured and tamped down, creating larger forms such as a whole wall or more at one time. CEB blocks are assembled onto walls using standard bricklaying and masonry techniques. Development[edit] Advantages[edit] There are many advantages of the CEB system. How to Sharpen Hair Clippers Blades the Easy Way - Getarazor No matter what the manufacturer said on the box, sharpen your clipper blades. Self-sharpening claims are a sales gimmick. Every blade must be sharpened to maintain its edge. You could take them to a professional. With just a few tools, I can teach you this useful skill in about fifteen minutes, saving you a lot of time and money. Many guides I’ve seen online teach you bad practices that ruin your blades. Below, you’ll find out how to sharpen your clipper blades the easy way. How Often Should You Sharpen Your Clipper Blade? There’s no easy answer because everyone uses their clippers differently. If you use your clippers all day, like in a barber shop or dog grooming salon, then you’ll sharpen them more often. An easy way to tell when your clippers need sharpened is when they pull hair or nick skin. So, the best trick I’ve found is to sharpen them once their performance drops enough for you to notice. Things You’ll Need Before Sharpening Your Blades Your main purchase will be a whetstone.

Open Source Ecology Sharpening scissors? Knivesandtools will tell you how! You might not realize it but your pair of kitchen scissors is one of the most frequently used tools in the kitchen. You use it to cut paper, cardboard or aluminium foil, but perhaps also herbs, vegetables and even meat and fish. Not that surprising then that in time the blades of scissors lose their sharpness. You notice it when you need to apply more pressure and you can no longer cut from the beak to the tip of the scissors in one go. In that case there is only one thing left to do: sharpen your pair of scissors. For sharpening scissors the same applies as when sharpening knives: you can easily do it yourself. Sharpening on a sharpening stone Sharpening scissors on a sharpening stone is not the same as when you sharpen knives. You start by choosing the right sharpening stone. Sharpening the inside of the blade Found the right stone? After adding water to the sharpening stone you place the blade of the scissors flat on top of the stone. Next: the edge Is the blade sharp enough?

Connecting the Collaborative Economy Ace Sharpening & Co To start with you need to know a few things. First what is grit? Grit is an abrasive powder. The type of grit used to sharpen clipper blades on an aluminum clipper sharpening wheel is called ‘brown fused aluminum oxide powder’ it is the same material used to make grinding wheels for bench grinders, also it can be used as a medium for sand blasting to blast the paint off of metal parts. Clipper blade sharpening is just another use for this material. This is the quality that is required to make grinding wheels for bench grinders. Not that this could happen while using powdered grit to sharpen clipper blades, (The aluminum oxide must be bonded together like it is in a grinding wheel to explode.) but I am thinking why not get the kind of abrasives that have the impurities already taken out, the impurities don’t sharpen anything, so it is best to get grit that doesn’t have any in the first place. Some groomers use a product called ‘blade wash’ this stuff is very expensive also. 1.

Ace Sharpening & Co Ace Sharpening & Co What about clipper blade sharpening wheels? What is it that makes one wheel better than another wheel? The short answer is simple; the trueness of the surface, and the angle of the taper that is used for hollow grinding the cutters. If the hollow grinding taper is wrong it does not matter how good the rest of the wheel is, what the wheel is made of or how good it looks. If your wheel has the correct taper then it does not matter if you are using a small 14” wheel or a large 24” wheel. As far as the size of a good wheel goes I personally do not make any wheels smaller than 12” for professional use. I used to wonder why Oster Co. made a 24” wheel and Andis Co. only made a 21” wheel. There are only two possibilities that I can think of; one is that the lathe Oster uses does not have a compound that is large enough to cut a larger surface. From what I understand Oster also has much larger wheels in their factory. Here is a great tip from one of my customers Jesus H.
