This is particularly true in the bedroom, but whether it's sharing with siblings growing up or co-habitation with roommates at college, unfortunately not all have us can enjoy the luxury of our own sleeping space. While not quite in the same league as your own four walls, the Privacy Pop will provide some protection from prying eyes - but you'll still want to keep the noise down - you know, when reading. View all Designed as a tent that fits around a bed, the Privacy Pop includes zippered access and windows that provide extra ventilation and light when you want it. Rashad Alakbarov Paints with Shadows and Light Artist Rashad Alakbarov from Azerbaijan uses suspended translucent objects and other found materials to create light and shadow paintings on walls. The best part is that you can easily create something similar at home – all you need is one or two lamps and some items from your desk. The stunning light painting below, made with an array of colored airplanes has found its way to exhibitions like the Fly to Baku at De Pury Gallery in London. Rashad adds, “Above the cloud with its shadow is the star with its light. Comments comments Greatest Optical Illusions - Eclipse of Titan This illusion is an update to the award winning, Eclipse of Mars, (which appeared as illusion of the month at Amos Storkey's Illusion page, and ranked top in the optical illusions poll). The idea is to stare at the white dot in the centre of the red circle for at least a minute (the longer the better - say 2 minutes!). You may blink, but don't move your head, and never take your eyes off the white dot. Witness the Eclipse of Titan!! ...and then curse our television and monitors for being unable to reproduce this depth of saturation exactly. The blue gradient bit to the right is not part of the illusion, but just there to show you that the colour you have just witnessed is not anywhere in the colour palette of your PC/monitor. Out of all the shades a monitor (CRT or LCD) can reproduce, cyan happens to be the worst in terms of sheer colour saturation, with green following close behind.

Illustrating with Thread and Pins The images within post are from various art installations and projects by Debbie Smyth. View more of the artist’s work at her blog. Notes about Smyth (from bio published at New British Artists): Debbie Smyth graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Contemporary Textiles in 2008. She has exhibited widely since then, selling her work to the public as well as being commissioned for a number of corporate projects from the New York Times to the Dorchester. Her playful yet sophisticated artworks are created by stretching a network of threads between accurately plotted pins. Leaving loose threads implies movement in the picture and Debbie has a keen eye for storytelling in a simple, contemporary manner. Artwork © Debbie Smyth Link via Designaside

This Awesome Urn Will Turn You into a Tree After You Die You don't find many designers working in the funeral business thinking about more creative ways for you to leave this world (and maybe they should be). However, the product designer Gerard Moline has combined the romantic notion of life after death with an eco solution to the dirty business of the actual, you know, transition. His Bios Urn is a biodegradable urn made from coconut shell, compacted peat and cellulose and inside it contains the seed of a tree. I, personally, would much rather leave behind a tree than a tombstone. To do this Polti analyzed classical Greek texts, plus classical and contemporaneous French works. He also analyzed a handful of non-French authors. In his introduction, Polti claims to be continuing the work of Carlo Gozzi, who also identified 36 situations. Publication history[edit] “Gozzi maintained that there can be but thirty-six tragic situations. This list was published in a book of the same name, which contains extended explanations and examples. The list is popularized as an aid for writers, but it is also used by dramatists, storytellers and many others. The 36 situations[edit] Each situation is stated, then followed by the necessary elements for each situation and a brief description. See also[edit] References[edit] External links[edit]
