Dry-Erase Doodle Pillow This project is a perfect way for kids to help make gifts for their parents. You can let their imaginations run wild with an expo marker in hand. Then, transform their doodles into prints that will last for years! My niece and I had just as much fun making this project as we did giving it to her dad for his birthday. All you need for this project is Inkodye, a glass plate (I got mine from a picture frame) and a black Expo marker. Prepare. Dye. Brush. Blend. Wipe. Compose. Expose. Watch. Reveal. Trim. Sew. Honestly WTF Sun-Printed Batik Batik is a traditional technique that uses Resist to prevent dye from reaching the fabric. You can use this method to create detailed patterns on textiles, wood and unglazed ceramics. With specially formulated Inkodye you get to use the power of the sun to develop the full vibrance of your colors and make them permanent, no other steaming or fixing is required! Decide how to apply the resist. We used fine line applicators, also try brushes, stencils and sponges. Choose your design. Flatten your work surface. Apply Resist. Finishing touches. Apply Inkodye. Go out into the sun! Watch the color develop. Details. Develop your final colors. Wash out resist. Take a look at your work! Dry your artwork. Enjoy your piece. Share your artwork.

This article will show you just a few of the many crafts you can create from your recycled T-shirts, from pillows to rags to rugs. So before you sneak off and throw away your family's aging T-shirts, consider the crafting potential.

DIY Macrame Bracelet Growing up by the beach in Southern California, the ability to knot a macrame bracelet was practically a right of passage. Although those days are long behind us, we’ve never forgotten the ever-so-simple square knot technique. This time, however, we’re replacing hemp and wooden beads for more updated elements like colorful nylon cord and glossy metal charms. Happy knotting! You’ll need: Start by cutting the knotting cord into two 30 inch, two 20 inch and one 10 inch lengths. Center the 30 inch cord under the two middle strands. Pull tightly and slide the knot up to the top. Finish the 2nd half of the square knot by folding the left cord over the middle strands and under the right cord. Pull tightly and repeat the steps – left, right, left, right . . . To finish the knots, thread one of the cords onto a needle and sew up the center of 3-4 knots along the backside. Repeat the same step on the other cord. After sewing up both knotting cords, trim away any excess.

Oh Happy Day! Icarus Scarf The Silken Straw yarns used to make this scarf are like blasts of sunshine. They shimmer and glisten and make me feel like I'm on a winged journey straight to the sun! Combining Alchemy's usual color wizardry with a beautifully nuanced texture, the effect is rustic and elegant at the same time. Definitely one of Purl's most sophisticated yarns, it crochets up into a very special scarf. Materials 3 skeins of Alchemy's Silken Straw. The Pattern Gauge 6 single crochets = 1 inch, before blocking Finished Size 4 inches wide x 64 inches long (including the fringe), after blocking Notes At the beginning of every row (except the first), skip the first stitch and start the row in the second stitch from the hook. At the end of every row (except the first), make the final stitch into the top loop of the chain that you made at the beginning of the previous row. When it's time to change colors, loosely carry the yarn that you need up the edge of the scarf. The Scarf Turn the work. The Fringe

How to Make Clothing Buttons from Shrink Plastic… This tutorial is an old one of mine that’s too good not to share again. Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Shrink Paper {here} Circle Punch {here} Hole punch {here} Pens {here} Update: I’ve made a video to show how to shrink the buttons using a craft embellishment heat gun. Kimanh Hi my name's Kimanh.

Honest To Nod When we found out about the amazing candy making process at Papabubble, we knew we had to make a stop during our first Nod Bus Tour at their location in Pasadena, CA. We were even more excited after we discussed partnering with them to create some exclusive custom candy to hand out on our #nodtourbus stops around California in April. We sat down with Mike from Papabubble LA to find out a little more about their delicious and creative candy. What exactly is Papabubble? We are a handmade candy shop that specializes in hard candy with images or words inside, the perfect candy for weddings, parties and special events. When did Papabubble begin? Papabubble was founded in Barcelona in 2004 with the goal of bringing back the charm of hand crafted sweets. How is Papabubble candy made? Our candy is made from 5 simple ingredients: water, sugar, glucose, flavor and color. After boiling and melting all the ingredients, we pour the molten sugar onto our water cooled table. P.S.

The Forty Minute Tote - Knitting Crochet Sewing Crafts Patterns and Ideas! I love straightforward, well-constructed projects that yield something practical. I know this might sound a bit boring, but the efficiency and elegance of simple design really gets me excited. So it’s no surprise that one of my favorite all time projects (if I do say so myself) is my Twenty Minute Tote. And so, in this same spirit of economic design, I thought I’d expand the Purl Bee’s family of quick totes with a new roomier bag, the Forty Minute Tote. The Forty Minute Tote comes together in a quick, clear way, and it features a new favorite fabric, Robert Kaufman’s Cotton Linen Denim. ps- The lovely wooden hooks featured in these pictures can be found here: Materials To make one 15-inch tall, 14-inch wide, and 5-inch deep tote bag: 2 yards of Reversible Webbing in Orange and Camel1/2-yard of Cotton Linen Denim for the outer bag. DIY Wrap Bracelet You should all know by now that we are all about stacking bracelets on our wrists. The more, the better. In fact . . . the most, the best! You’ll need (for a double wrapped bracelet) :* Lengths will vary depending on the size of your wrist (see comments for suggestions). Fold the length of leather cording in half to form a loop. Place the ball chain along the leather cording with the end of the chain meeting the end of the wrap. Continue wrapping while checking it for fit around the wrist. When you have reached the end of the ball chain wrap the linen cording around the leather strands 2-3 more times. Thread the hex nut through the strands and tie a second knot. Trim with scissors and your wrap bracelet is finished!! The materials are listed for a double wrap bracelet. It’s a party!
