Csak biztatni tudunk minden pedagógust arra, hogy a már bőven fellelhető internetes szótárakat használtassák tanulóikkal, vezessék rá őket a kulcsszavakkal történő keresésre, ami lényeglátásukat is növeli. A feladatok végzése során hagyjuk tanulóinkat önállóan próbálkozni, csak egyéni segítséget nyújtsunk ott, ahol az szükséges. Sikeres, jó munkát kívánunk. World’s Languages Dying Off Rapidly Of the estimated 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, linguists say, nearly half are in danger of extinction and are likely to disappear in this century. In fact, they are now falling out of use at a rate of about one every two weeks. Some endangered languages vanish in an instant, at the death of the sole surviving speaker. Others are lost gradually in bilingual cultures, as indigenous tongues are overwhelmed by the dominant language at school, in the marketplace and on television. New research, reported today, has identified the five regions of the world where languages are disappearing most rapidly. Lesson Plans Chapter 1: Matter—Solids, Liquids, and Gases Students are introduced to the idea that matter is composed of atoms and molecules that are attracted to each other and in constant motion. Students explore the attractions and motion of atoms and molecules as they experiment with and observe the heating and cooling of a solid, liquid, and gas. Chapter 2: Changes of State Students help design experiments to test whether the temperature of water affects the rate of evaporation and whether the temperature of water vapor affects the rate of condensation. Students also look in more detail at the water molecule to help explain the state changes of water. Chapter 3: Density Students experiment with objects that have the same volume but different mass and other objects that have the same mass but different volume to develop a meaning of density.
