Data Journalism Heist is designed to be a relatively short introduction to data journalism skills , demonstrating basic techniques for finding data, spotting possible stories and turning them around to a deadline. Based on a workshop, the emphasis is on building confidence through speed and brevity , rather than headline-grabbing spectacular investigations or difficult datasets (I’m hoping to write a separate ebook on the latter at some point). El Editor Predictivo para Windows -familiarmente, Predwin- consiste en un editor de texto, que funciona mediante barrido y que contiene un sistema de predicción de palabras, Incorpora además un módulo de Matemáticas y un módulo de Comunicador. Hace años que utilicé su versión para ms-dos y recuerdo que la instalación -dos disquetes- era un poco farragosa, aunque, los resultados eran impresionantes. Con el paso del tiempo, no tuve alumnos que pudieran utilizar este programa y perdí su rastro. No hace mucho, me topé con esta nueva versión, que podrás encontrar en el apartado Programas gratuitos del CEAPAT. Sé que hay bastante gente que no conoce este programa y que cuando se lo he comentado, me han preguntado como conseguirlo, porque ellos sí que tenían alumnos para utilizarlo. BioCarburante (España) / Por Agustín Vivancos Cuanto más crece el volumen de documentos, más difícil es saber: ¿Dónde está un informe que se necesita?, ¿dónde archivar un documento que se acaba de redactar? o ¿qué hacer con un correo electrónico en el que figura un pedido?. También son cada vez más las entidades que se preguntan: ¿Se debe evitar duplicidades de documentos y el uso de versiones no actualizadas?, ¿se extravían documentos críticos o archivos? A la necesidad de resolver esta situación se añade que en los documentos reside gran parte del conocimiento corporativo, es decir, el capital intelectual de la organización. En muchas ocasiones es necesario comenzar por llevar a cabo una auditoría de la información y del conocimiento en la organización. Es fundamental aplicar la norma ISO 15489 de Información y documentación. A partir de ahí está claro que hace falta una aplicación de gestión documental que permita asegurar que la información y el conocimiento corporativo se comparten.

I got my first sense of this while hanging out with foreign correspondents and journalists in Turkey–and I later worked with international news organizations as a local organizer and translator. All the journalists, and all their camerapersons, and all their crew, and even their local workers seemed to not only know each other very well, they were almost always together. You could literally spot them from a distance as a large mass of people with their gear, lights and correspondents fixing their hair before going on the air. Staying in the same hotel. Hanging out in the same bar. Packs often made their decisions collectively as well. Some, though, abandoned the pack.
