brown living room » theLENNOXX For a long time I’ve been drooling over this bedroom, not knowing who designed it: When watching some videos over at LXTV’s Open House I immediately recognized the bedroom from the video. Turns out this is the personal bedroom of Interior Designer Jeff Andrews. I adore Jeff‘s dramatic dark brown walls. You can see the bedroom from the hallway. The living area is simple and chic. This is Jeff‘s desk/dining table. See how gorgeous Jeff‘s white pottery looks on the rich chocolate backdrop.

DIY: Furniture Makeovers I'm obsessed with making-over old, worn out furniture. It's amazing how almost any old piece can be totally transformed with new paint, hardware and a little imagination! Here are three examples from Ladies Home Journal...click here to read the entire article. Out-dated side table with stone top transformed into a bright and cheerful accent piece! *First they removed the hardware and stone top, sanded the table all over, and applied a coat of primer. *They cut a length of seagrass wallpaper to fit the inset and topped it with a pane of 1/4-inch glass. Old dresser transformed into a chic sideboard with plenty of storage! *They gave the whole piece a light sanding, a coat of primer, and two coats of semigloss latex paint in a pale blue shade on the outside and a deeper blue inside for contrast. *To dress up the doors, they picked out a pair of modern nickel pulls. *Click here to read the details on how they transformed the inside...

Recycling Billboards into Modern Residential Buildings | Designs &Ideas... - StumbleUpon As more and more advertising goes online and transportation conservation becomes an increasing economic and ecological concern, what is the future fate of the infamous billboard? One proposal by Front Architects suggests turning these into lofted homes – small houses to be sure, but located in some potentially fascinating places. Some of these unusually thin homes could be built in place from scratch, others could be transported to new locations or even left where they are in the urban environment. As with so many good design projects the feasibility of this specific idea as such is not of singular or even primary importance – the concept provides a foundation for rethinking everyday urban structures, artifacts of the built environment, that we might find new and different uses for as times change. Alas, the above image is only a computer-generated overlay in a real situation.

Color - Live Like You & Marmalade Interiors If you have followed this blog for a while you might be familiar with my line “Life is too Short for White walls”. Well ironically, or perhaps to test myself (?) the bungalow rental we are in for the next few months has…yes…only WHITE walls. That’s not t say you can’t create some some cheerful spaces with an all white backdrop. Interior design by Emily Henderson. A great starting point add a– BOLD COLORED COUCH. Via Belle Maison. Add CONTRASTING FURNITURE AND PATTERNS. Adding COLORFUL ART and PILLOWS and BOOKS is another way to bring color and life in to the space. Interior Design by Emily Henderson Hmm…there is something be said about white walls. Let the FLOWERS and SMALL ACCESSORIES add the punch. Interior design by Amber Lewis. This cool dining room is framed by white, but nothing a bright kilim can’t slam dunk. (Can’t wait for my vintage kilims to arrive next month.) And last GREEN PLANTS add a lot of warmth. Modern Sophistication in New York City's Upper West Side & Design... - StumbleUpon 268StumbleUpon Today we return to the work of Frances Herrera, the inimitable New York interior designer behind Interiors by Francesca, LLC. Working with a young, sophisticated family in the Upper West Side, Herrera transformed a blank slate into a comfortable, kid-friendly home that exudes an unquestionably chic, cozy and polished sense of style. The minimal, contemporary dining room allows the impressive Manhattan skyline to take center stage. The large, unobtrusive glass table and dining chairs that are upholstered in a practical, yet chic faux ostrich vinyl are perfect for everyday use and for young children. Abundant neutral and warm shades enhance the coziness of the living room. The living room design is focused on comfort, luxury and multi-functionality. A chic wingback chair placed in the corner with a bookshelf becomes an intimate reading area in the living room. In the six-year-old boy’s room, a custom window seat with drawer provides even more storage for toys. About Taylor Wilson
