The Myth of Black Anti-Intellectualism: A True Psychology of African ... - Kevin O. Cokley - Google Books 7 Things You Should Know About Teaching and Learning with Video When the pandemic suspended most in-person learning, colleges and universities turned to video technologies as one of their primary strategies to maintain instructional continuity while faculty and students were confined to their homes. Instructors who had rarely or never used video for teaching began to, and those who had previously used video often expanded that use. Many lessons were learned about the tradeoffs of synchronous versus asynchronous video, and even as the pandemic fades and in-person classes resume, video will remain an element of learning for many faculty. The 7 Things You Should Know About... series from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) provides concise information on emerging learning technologies. Each brief focuses on a single technology and describes what it is, where it is going, and why it matters to teaching and learning. Use these briefs for a no-jargon, quick overview of a topic and share them with time-pressed colleagues.

And in January 2019, 23 learning scientists, curriculum designers, youth media and open data researchers, citizen science specialists, and data literacy advocates gathered for a day and a half for Designing 2030: Thinking & Doing with Data in Palo Alto, California, to think specifically about teaching and learning in a data-rich world.

The Power of Asynchronous Video A set of seven articles discusses the benefits of asynchronous video and provides specific guidance about how to effectively incorporate these tools to improve learning. Prior to the pandemic, instructors taught courses either fully or partially online, using a wide range of tools to teach and connect with students. When the pandemic abruptly curtailed most in-person learning, the number of courses being taught online grew exponentially. Many instructors turned to videoconferencing tools to facilitate their teaching, perhaps because they offer the most obvious approximation of an in-class experience. But many instructors and students quickly recognized that video conferencing came with limitations. Asynchronous video can help address several of the challenges that instructors and students encountered in videoconferencing. This series of articles was written with the support of EdConnect.
