My name is Julie and I'm a wino...and if you're one too, you probably have tons of wine corks gathering in your kitchen junk drawer or collecting in a box somewhere, right? felt-dahlia-flower I’ve been wanting to make more of these flowers ever since I made one a few months ago, but my plans always fell by the wayside. (along the wayside are also my plans for world domination and the best chocolate chip cookie recipe in the world, but what can you do?) When I asked Sadie if she liked this flower, she said,”yeah…? It’s a circle.” Well said, darling. Here’s how I made it! You’ll need:felt (I use a wool felt blend)hot glue gunpin backscissors First you’ll need to cut out a bunch of leaf shapes, mostly large pieces, plus a few small ones. Then Cut the leaf pieces in half. You won’t need this many small ones, but I wasn’t sure so I cut a bunch. Then dab some hot glue in the center of the flat end of the petal. Then dab some glue and fold back the two loose ends to create a petal that looks like this! Keep gluing until you can glue them around the outside of the circle! Then add another circle on top of the first circle.

How to Make Clothing Buttons from Shrink Plastic… This tutorial is an old one of mine that’s too good not to share again. Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. The buttons. single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Here are the supplies that you will need: 1/2" elastic (I prefer the braided elastic)6" spools of tulle (found in any craft store, sometimes in the bridal section)1 yard of double faced satin ribbon (optional)needle and threadlarge book First, get your princess's waist measurement. My daughter is two, and her waist is just shy of 20". When I make her a tutu, I start with a 16 1/2" piece of elastic. Set your elastic aside, and get ready to cut your tulle. Ten inches is the standard length that I use when making a tutu. I am just noticing that it is a bit hard to see the orange tulle that I am cutting in this picture. Once you are done cutting, you are ready to start tying. find the middle slide the tulle under the elastic start your slip knot pull the ends through pull the ends down (this is a loose knot) this is what the loose knots for a play tutu should look like this is a tight knot Finally, I like to add a ribbon to my tutus. Go make a tutu!

I understand that not everyone has a sewing machine or/and able to sew, so I created this no-sew version for the non-sewer who like to recycle their bed sheets or de-stash their fabrics to make this feet cozy Woven Rag Rug. This tutorial doesn’t require any loom for weaving; just use a sturdy corrugated carton box from your recycle pile. When I saw it a knew it was perfect for this project =] And instead of painting or covering it with fabric (my first idea) I decided to just go the Decoupage route with hot pink tissue paper.
