Daisy Granny Square pattern
Hello Lovelies, thank you all so much for your wonderful "Yorkshire" comments. I'm so glad you enjoyed sharing my pictures :0) Here is a photo tutorial of my latest square .Quite a few you you lovelies seemed to like it . I expect there are similar patterns already in existence , but this is my own creation and thought you might like to try it ..... It's a simple pattern . The only part you may find tricky is the puff stitch . Don't worry if you are not familiar with how to do these as I've taken lots of pictures to help you master it. The pattern is written in U.S. terms. using yellow yarn.......... begin by chaining 4 and slip stitch in first ch to join to form a ring........... ch 1 ........ and work 7 sc into ring, the space you want is the bottom space in the picture above ............ I crochet over the loose end as I make my sc stitches , that way you can pull the centre tighter with it if you want slip stitch into first sc to join and fasten off......... yarn over hook 3 loops on hook

This is the May Filler Square for the 2013 BAMCAL! 7/31/13 UK terms version now available, translation thanks to Shelley (spincushions). 4/8/13 Version 2.0 is up! Main changes are round 7 for better construction and added an optional second round of flowers. Thanks to Scraplyn, Stuesymom, and Mootzee for testing and feedback! ________________ This square is meant to, and hopefully does, look like a fountain in a garden. But of course, flowers need a place to be and a border needs to be around something, so there is the fountain. I used an H hook and Caron Simply Soft yarn, which is a light worsted weight, but I apparently crochet rather loosely because with this combination I usually come out on gauge for patterns written for worsted weight and an I hook. ETA: Here is the project with the flower border!

about this pattern: i found this pretty picture on pinterest and was totally smitten. after a lot of googling and searching i wasn’t able to find the pattern, so decided to figure the pattern out myself. dottie angel‘s pictures of her thrifty find was very helpful, and i was happy to find out that this is actually a pretty simple pattern, so novices – don’t be alarmed! just go ahead and try it out :) for more pictures, check out this, this or this post. about yarn/hook: any yarn with corresponding hook will do, i find that moving up a hook size from what the yarn says makes a softer material that would work better with a blanket. i’ve made pillows with these squares so that wouldn’t matter so much. i used sandnes duo (dk weight) and hook 4 mm and the square measures 8×8 cm, with garnstudio drops paris (aran) and hook 5 mm one square is a bit over 10×10. first a couple of basics: 2. the first dc on row is made by chain 3 begin with colour of flower. chain 4, make circle with one slip stitch

What you'll need... Various colours of yarn (I used Patons Smoothie DK) Appropriate size crochet hook for your yarn (I used a 4mm - USA G) Yarn needle for weaving in ends Difficulty: Easy - ★☆☆ Crochet Terms: This pattern is written in UK terms. American terms are given below in green. sp - Space ss - Slip Stitch (Slip Stitch) dc - Double (Single) htr - Half Treble (Half Double) dtr - Double Treble (Treble) WRITTEN PATTERN: Abbreviated instructions for the pattern can be found at the end of the post, if you're happy to work from them alone, free feel to jump to the end right now. Start by making a magic loop and chaining 1. Then make 8 double crochet stitches into the loop. Pull the tail end of the loop up tight so the dc's come into a circle shape. Then make a slip stitch into the 1st dc that you made to close the circle. Next, chain 1 and make 2 dc's into the same stitch you just made your clip stitch into. Continue round the circle, making 2 dc's into each stitch. Fasten off and row one is complete.

A mandala… square? Yes! I recently had a request come in asking me to turn the Magic Spike Mandala into an afghan square. I thought it was a great idea ( particularly for such a busy week). Here’s the result – the Magic Spike Mandala Square! The Magic Spike Mandala Square is a 12″ x 12″ afghan block that retains the look of the original mandala but is decidedly blanket-friendly. Add this pattern to your Ravelry Queue US – I/9, 5.50mm hook 135 yds total worsted weight yarn in 4 colors (Lily Sugar’n Cream shown)Special Stitch: Spike St – Keeping tension on the active loop on the hook, insert hook into specified stitch, yo and pull up a loop to the height of the current row. Instructions: Round 1: Using Color A, make a magic circle. Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2dc in next ch sp. Round 3: Using Color B, join with a sl st to top of one of the dc sts that is worked into a dc (not a dc that’s worked into the ch sp). Round 4: Ch 1, sc in first st. Round 6: Ch 1, hdc in first st.
