The Global Forecast System (GFS) is a global numerical weather prediction computer model run by NOAA. Numerical weather prediction uses current weather conditions as input into mathematical models of the atmosphere to predict the weather.
Clouds You have only to look up into the sky to try your luck at weather forecasting. Clouds give us a clue about what is going on in our atmosphere and how the weather might change in the hours or even days to come. Each type of cloud forms in a different way, and each brings its own kind of weather. Cool Condensation Clouds are water. As you probably know, we can find water in three forms: liquid, solid and gas. Too Clean for Clouds? Our air has to be just a little bit dirty for clouds to form. Cloud Classifications Meteorologists name clouds by how high in the sky they form and by their appearance. If clouds form at the highest levels, they get the prefix “cirro” as the first part of their name. There are two cloud appearance types: cumulus and stratus, which are also the basic names of the low clouds. Cumulus clouds are low individual billowy globs that are low, have flat bases and look a little like cauliflower. Stratus clouds are layered and cover most of the sky. Go to Next Page
Atlas Digital Escolar - Presentación Le presentamos un atlas elaborado por profesores de Geografía, pensado como un recurso didáctico orientado a incorporar las tecnologías de los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG) en la educación con el fin de mejorar los aprendizajes de los alumnos, especialmente en Geografía. Hemos utilizado el software de ArcGIS Online, una herramienta muy útil para ver, construir o trabajar mapas. No es necesario saber nada de esas tecnologías para trabajar con este atlas. Los mapas están elaborados y son muy sencillos de manejar. La mayor parte de ellos se basan en representar, en forma de capas, varias informaciones para analizarlas, encontrar relaciones entre ellas, buscar causalidades, etc. Por último, señalar que hay mapas para todos los niveles de Educación Secundaria: algunos se orientan a los primeros cursos de ESO, otros a los dos segundos cursos, y otros a bachillerato.
