I know I talked hair last week BUT I just have to share this with you! Being a straight and rather flat haired girl myself, I have tried every which way to bring a little bit of curl into my life with limited success. I’ve bought heated round brushes, velcro rollers, curling tongs in various shapes and sizes, those foam bendy things, rags (Victorian chic don’t you know) and heated rollers. But none have given me the curls I crave and most of them have damaged my hair. But, the other day, I was indulging in a little pinning on Pinterest. Here is a before and after shot of a girl who tried it out and was so pleased with the results she blogged about it. I’m not sure I’d describe these curls as Vintage, they seem more boho to me but nevertheless I just love them & will no doubt be sporting them in the very near future! DIY Spike Comb
We first fell in love with Jennifer Behr‘s dinosaur headbands after seeing them on the runway at Fendi. Then, we crushed hard on this Maison Michel metal spiked hair comb spotted on Elena Perminova in Paris. Perhaps we can blame our attraction on our stegosaurus obsession (yes, this is true). Or it could simply be because these spiked hair accessories are so badass and bananas (also true). Either way, a DIY was definitely in order. You’ll need: Start by adding a small amount of liquid super glue to one end of the comb. Glue another spike to the other end of the comb. Continue glueing each spike, alternating from one side to another. Stick the spiked comb in a bed of teased and tousled hair! (top image via Style.com; rest of images by HonestlyWTF)
Martin's View: Neil Diamond - On The Way To The Sky
Happy seventy-first birthday today (January 24th) to American singer-songwriter and 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Neil Diamond (a long deserved honor, in my opinion). Continuing off the successful momentum of 1980’s The Jazz Singer soundtrack (click here for my review of that album), Neil Diamond followed it with his fourteenth album On The Way To The Sky in November of 1981. The album reached number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 39 on the UK album charts, number 12 on the Australian charts, and number 11 on the New Zealand charts. Side one begins with “Yesterday’s Songs”, the first single from the album. Released a few weeks before the album, it climbed all the way up to number 11 on the US Billboard Top 40 and achieved the number 1 spot on the US Adult Contemporary charts. This mid-tempo tune is one of those I heard so often on the Top 40 radio back in the early 80’s, so much so that I could sing along to it. “Be Mine Tonight” was the third single from the album.

I have been seeing a lot of bird nest jewelry around lately. They are beautiful and I love the trend so I thought I would try making my own. These turned out to be really easy to make and require just a few simple supplies. What you'll need: - Jewelry wire (I prefer using a 24 gage because it is easier to manipulate but the 20 gage can work well too with the help of some round nose pliers) - pearls or glass beads - necklace chain - jump ring and a clasp Select the beads you want, string them onto your wire and arrange them as you'd like. then simply wrap the wire around the beads wrap some wire in the space between each bead (I like the look of three loops but you could just do one or two if you prefer) this is what the back looked like. now attach a jump ring and a clasp to the end of a necklace chain and this is what you end up with :) I love how each one is so different just to show you the difference between the 20 and 24 gage... I think this one is my favorite

DIY Friendship Bracelet
For several months now, we’ve been receiving emails requesting a friendship bracelet DIY. Well, friends, ask and you shall receive! Today, we’ll give you a step by step tutorial on the classic chevron pattern. If you used to whip up friendship bracelets like a champ in grade school and have since forgotten how, consider this a refresher course. And if you can make these with your eyes closed and arms tied . . . umm, can we still be friends? You’ll need:embroidery threada safety pin or tapea pair of scissors Start by cutting several strands of embroidery thread at about 24 inches each. Start on the left side with the outermost color (shown here in red) and make a forward knot by creating a 4-shape over the 2nd color, loop it under and back through the opening. Pull up and to the right to tighten. Now pick up the outermost color on the right side (show here in red) and make a backward knot, creating a reverse 4-shape over the 2nd color, loop it under and back through the opening.
