Speed Camera Lottery: Drive Legally And Earn Money The Fun Theory award, sponsored by Volkswagen, recognizes simple thoughts and ideas that are fun to exercise and eventually change people’s behavior for the better. This year’s winning idea was the Speed Camera Lottery submitted by Kevin Richardson, who believed that people would obey speed limits if there was a fun element involved. The Speed Camera Lottery, in addition to photographing speed violators and issuing tickets, would also capture those vehicles that are driving within limits and enter them in a lottery to get a chance to win money from the revenue which was generated from speeding tickets. The idea was tested with great success over a 3 day period involving over 24,000 cars and resulted in an average vehicle speed reduction of 22% during the experiment. The Speed Camera Lottery idea was also embraced by the Swedish National Society for Road Safety and has now been implemented in Stockholm. Speed Camera Lottery [via Innovapedia]

I’d like to challenge the very idea of creative departments. Because maybe the word ‘creative’ is a legacy title that’s lost it’s meaning and could even be holding back the industry. My first problem with the word ‘creative’ is that it’s elitist. By calling a department ‘creative’ it sends a message that other departments aren’t. Another unfortunate truth is that the majority of people who are given the title ‘creative’ just aren’t. Having the title ‘creative’ does not make you creative. When I’ve been looking at restructuring departments in agencies, there is an issue where lots of people want the word ‘creative’ in their title. The role of the Creative Department has changed over the years as well. The long and short of it is that the role of the Creative has changed. What do you think? Like this: Like Loading...
brandonblog.wordpress.com Color As a Marketing Tool Advertisements Because we live in a world inundated with colors, we are apt to become desensitized to the impact they can have on our emotional responses and preferences. The fact that we are so easily manipulated has not been lost on product marketing companies who have studied the psychology behind each color and how it can be used to influence us to purchase their products. Occasionally trends can change that, but many colors have indelibly imprinted themselves, and even though they speak subliminally, they steer our attitudes in powerful ways. Research has shown that 93% of customers value the color and appearance of a product over any other factor, including its performance. The average shopper passes about 300 products every minute while strolling down a store aisle. Matching the inherent meaning behind a color and the purpose of a product is important for immediate interest and subsequent purchase.
