After so long? Safeguarding Children As parents – or relatives, teachers and other adults responsible to children’s safety – we want our children and those we look after to be healthy and happy … and to develop well both physically and mentally. Above all, it’s also instinctive that we want kids to be safe. Children learn through exploration and natural curiosity, and it is part of our job as parents and carers to encourage that. However, as our children grow up, develop and discover new experiences, we have to take more and different steps to ensure their safety.
The Original TEACH Act Toolkit Welcome to the new home of the original "TEACH Act Toolkit" created in 2003 to facilitate understanding and application of the then new "Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization Act (TEACH Act)", passed in 2002. TEACH was intended to update the section of the copyright act (specifically, Section 110(2)) most applicable to online digital course. Thus, TEACH is not a separate or additional copyright law; it simply replaces an already existing section.
PCI-e vs AGP What is PCI-Express and AGP? There are two ways to connect a graphics card to a motherboard, either via an AGP or PCI Express slot located on your motherboard. A motherboard only supports one of these slots, so if you’re looking for a new video card make sure you’re aware of whether your motherboard supports AGP, or PCI-Express. AGP has been the standard for a long time now, but it is old technology. Its days are almost over, and it’s only a matter of time until PCI-Express completely takes over and AGP is left for dead.Advantages of PCI-Express
How to register for Japanese video site Nico Nico Douga When writing a recent article about the biggest internet stories in Japan for 2007, I wrote about probably the biggest story of the year, hot-shot video site Nico Nico Douga. This site is uniquely Japanese and has some truly strange and bizarre content. By using time referenced text chat on top of the video feeds, the site manages to create a unique social landscape that western sites have yet to match.
Educational Technology TPACK, shown below, is a useful model for educators as they begin to use digital tools and strategies to support teaching and learning. This model, developed by educational researchers Mishra and Kohler (2006), is designed around the idea that content (what you teach) and pedagogy (how you teach) must be the basis for any technology that you plan to use in your classroom to enhance learning. How AGP works With the greater technological innovations, computing has become more advanced and faster by the day. These days email, files, streaming of movies or video games, is ruled by graphics! In such a scenario what is it that makes the computer work so fast, with all the graphics and extra effects involved? There is only one answer this question – AGP or Accelerated Graphics Port. What Are Advanced Search Options? Advanced search options are a set of filters offered by most search engines on the web. They narrow the scope of a search query to eliminate irrelevant information to help you find the exact content you're looking for. Advanced search filters aren't limited to web search engines like Google. Any website with a search tool can incorporate advanced search options, including people search engines, music and video streaming sites, social media websites, reference sites, and blogs.
A Guide for Bringing the SAMR Model to iPads When used effectively, iPads can develop thinkers and problem solvers. They can be used to transform learning inside and outside of the classroom, and offer limitless opportunities. Many educators are effectively integrating technology in the classroom using iPads to achieve the 4C’s, or “super skills,” that digital learners need to compete in our global society. But in order to do that, the focus has to shift from apps to content: that’s when true redefinition takes place. When my district rolled out our iPad initiative in 2012, teachers thought they needed specific apps for every content area.
