70 Things Every Computer Geek Should Know. | Arrow Webzine The term ‘geek’, once used to label a circus freak, has morphed in meaning over the years. What was once an unusual profession transferred into a word indicating social awkwardness. What Is Intuition Exactly? Intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without the use of logical reasoning. It comes from the Latin word "intueri," which roughly translates, "to look inside." It's also being in tune with the energy around us. Everyone had special intuitive gifts. Reiki and IntuitionAs a society, we believe if something can't be proven or seen, it doesn't exist. Of course, I can't help tying Reiki into this. How to Cultivate ItTry writing it down (or at least consciously noticing it) when you get a gut feeling: include whether you act on it or not, and where you feel it (e.g. your stomach, your head, your heart, etc.) "No more words, hear only the voice within."

The Subtle Art of Trolling Trolling the web: a guide By Steve Spumante There are some individuals out there who don't just enjoy winding up people on newsgroups and bulletin boards - it's their sad lifestyle choice! Using every known disruptive trick in the book, these troublesome types don't go out to the pub, meet members of the opposite sex or enjoy life. They spend their time hunched over their computers trolling. Here's how they work: The object of this post is to bring together a definitive document to cover the phenomena of the Usenet Troll. What I want this document to focus on is how to create entertaining trolls. Section 1: What Is A Troll? The WWW gives this as a definition: troll v.,n. The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it. Section 2: Design Issues

Annie's Remedy Natural Healing Herbs and Oils Holding a Program in Ones Head August 2007 A good programmer working intensively on his own code can hold it in his mind the way a mathematician holds a problem he's working on. Mathematicians don't answer questions by working them out on paper the way schoolchildren are taught to. They do more in their heads: they try to understand a problem space well enough that they can walk around it the way you can walk around the memory of the house you grew up in. At its best programming is the same. That's particularly valuable at the start of a project, because initially the most important thing is to be able to change what you're doing. Your code is your understanding of the problem you're exploring. It's not easy to get a program into your head. Even the best programmers don't always have the whole program they're working on loaded into their heads. Avoid distractions. Even more striking are the number of officially sanctioned projects that manage to do all eight things wrong.

6 Steps Towards Emotional Wellness April 4, 2011 By Guest Blogger|22Comments| Facebook Tweet Google + Pinterest Email by Jennifer Reger I’ve spent the past five years on the quest for wellness, with much of my time, efforts and money devoted to better food choices. I felt a lack of direction in my career. Here are some of the steps I’ve recently taken in creating emotional wealth: Take an internal inventory: Identify emotional triggers. Practice self-care religiously. When the going gets tough, give yourself some extra lovin’. Mind the gap. Nurture and expand your perspective; exercise connectivity. And if you’re feeling particularly low or isolated and the gratitude journal just ain’t doing the trick, there’s an awesome exercise in connectivity that you can do anytime, anywhere. Receive. None of these practices is rocket science; they are quite simple. Jennifer Reger is creator of the wellness blog Holistic Health Junkie. Photo credit: Mr.
