Man Makes Music Out of an Old Game Boy
Here’s a use for your old Game Boy that might not have occurred to you. A German Game Boy fan named Sebastian Bender has released a music video on YouTube that is made up of clicks, spring-twiddling and button-pressing on the device. With 200,000 views since April 6, it’s catching on. It’s a unique use for the game player, for sure, but maybe not as unique as you think. Last year, another fan netted more than 1 million views for an all-Game Boy rendition of Michael Jackson’s "Beat It."

On: December 31st, 2009 The prevailing idea has been that the independent games community is getting bigger each year: more games, more people, more quality, more press. Partway through 2009, however, I was getting the impression that we were in a lull. Understandable, I suppose, since 2008 saw the arrival of Braid, World of Goo, and Castle Crashers, arguably three of the most critically and commercially successful indie games ever, as well as Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, one of the least commercially successful but most awesome games ever.
