Preikestolen – an amazing Norwegian attraction « BLOGNATOR Preikestolen or Prekestolen, also known by the English translations of Preacher’s Pulpit or Pulpit Rock, is a giant cliff 604 metres (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, in Ryfylke, Norway. The top of the cliff is approximately 25 by 25 metres (82 by 82 feet) square and almost flat, and is a famous tourist attraction in Norway. During the four summer months of 2009, approximately 130,000 people took the 3.8 km hike to Preikestolen, making it one of the most visited natural tourist attractions in Norway. A trip to Preikestolen from the closest car park and Norwegian Mountain Touring Associations-staffed refuge, Preikestolen fjellstue, takes about 3-4 hours for a round trip hike. The parking facility and hut are about one hour from the city of Stavanger by ferry and car. The walk to Preikestolen is very steep in places. By: Wikipedia

Learn how a range of Photoshop techniques pull together the various elements to create the final design. Open up your chosen image in Photoshop. Make small Levels adjustments to increase the contrast slightly. If you are planning to use your work for poster printing, use a high DPI (between 150-300dpi) and CMYK Color Mode. Add Curves Adjustment Layer (go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Curves) and change the drop down menu to select the Red channel and make adjustments. Change the drop down to the Green channel and make adjustments to the tones controlled by this channel, and finally adjust the Blue channel. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Gradient Map to add an adjustment layer above all the other layers. In this step we are going to add vignette.

Judith Ann Braun's Fingers Are Magical With an art career spanning more than three decades, Judith Ann Braun has tested the limits of her artistic musculature. She began as a self-described “realistic figure painter,” and worked through the struggles common to anyone who endeavors upon an artistic pursuit, that of searching for one’s own voice in the chosen medium. Fast forward to the 21st century where the evolution of Braun’s work has brought us to the Fingerings series, a collection of charcoal dust landscapes and abstracts “painted” using not brushes but her fingertips. Braun has a specific interest in symmetry, as evidenced by the patterns she follows in a number of the Fingerings pieces as well as work in the Symmetrical Procedures collection. Her fingerprints are obvious up close in some of the paintings, though a step back and the grandeur of Braun’s imagination sprawls into a landscape of soft hills, overhanging trees, delicate florals, and a reflective waterway. Camera Lens Once you've settled on the subject and the light, you have to decide on the relative prominence of objects in the scene. By moving the camera position back and forth, you can adjust the relative size of objects in the scene. After you're happy with the position, you pick a camera lens whose angle of view encompasses all the objects that you want to include in the photo. Objects? Relative prominence? Au contraire! Aesthetic tip from MIT: when your nose sticks out 5" in front of your eyes, you don't want it to appear relatively more prominent. Suppose that you actually want this photo as the "before" illustration in a plastic surgeon's advertisement. Suppose that you wish to flatter Cyrano. What about the 24mm lens from this camera position? Exactly how long a camera lens do you need? Apologies to people from countries that have adopted sensible units. If sensors and camera lenses were perfect... you would need only one lens! Wide angle camera lenses Normal Lenses Telephoto Camera Lenses Rent

Camera Lenses" In the last section, we saw that at any one point, a lens bends light beams to a certain total degree, no matter the light beam's angle of entry. This total "bending angle" is determined by the structure of the lens. A lens with a rounder shape (a center that extends out farther) will have a more acute bending angle. Basically, curving the lens out increases the distance between different points on the lens. Increasing the bending angle has an obvious effect. Increasing the distance between the lens and the real image actually increases the total size of the real image. The same basic thing happens in a camera. Professional cameras let you attach different lenses so you can see the scene at various magnifications. Different lenses are suited to different situations.
